Happy Earth Day! 🌍 On Friday, we headed to King’s Cross for Earthfest 2024. There was a lot of exciting stuff to see, including art, fashion, live music, and inspiring talks about how we can come together to drive change. And Caitlin Rozario, our very own Head of Brand and Culture, hosted two great sessions. First up, she interviewed Beccy Speight, the CEO of the RSPB. Beccy talked about the projects they are working on right now to reverse the damage that’s been done to nature and wildlife in the UK. She also spoke about how companies can get involved with saving our wildlife, by donating, volunteering and spreading awareness. Our biggest takeaway was that there’s so much nature right under our noses, so we can get started with the spaces closest to us – whether that’s our own garden or a local park. Caitlin also hosted a panel discussion on eco-friendly employee benefits, with Jamie Richards (Forest), Emilie Stephenson (innocent drinks) and Sarah Howden (Possible). Introducing our new Climate Impact Tracker! 🌍 💚 We’ve just launched carbon tracking for our global community of 70,000+ event creators! Beyond offering easy and affordable event ticketing, we want to make sure we do business in a responsible and sustainable way. We believe a key part of this is being transparent about the impact of using our technology and what we're doing about that. Having calculated our total carbon emissions across all three scopes with the help of Supercritical, we’re able to calculate the annual carbon emissions per ticket. Through this we can empower event organisers by sharing their individual ticketing footprint. We acknowledge that ticketing is only a small part of the picture, but we hope that by offering this transparency and awareness of ticketing emissions, that it will inspire event organisers to take meaningful action across their events as a whole. The tracker also shows individual and collective donations made to our climate charity partners through our Penny for the Planet promise, whereby 1p (1.3c) is donated every time a ticket is sold through Ticket Tailor. I feel so grateful to do the work I get to do in the world through OzGREEN. Last year, we delivered 90 events with over 2,500 participants to increase wellbeing, protect rivers, change habits, and change the world! Our programs connect people with nature, build sustainability skills, redirect waste from landfill, plant trees and collect citizen science data. AND we employ and support regional young people to deliver them! Because young people are the future. I'm not on delivery as much anymore after stepping into the Communications Manager role here, but when I do attend our events and experience the magic on the ground, it fuels me in the work that I do. riveryouthfest last April was a great example... It was a family-friendly tree planting festival targeting young people with live music, art and craft activities, games and food. It brought many, many community partners together around a shared goal. It gave young musicians a stage, some of them, for the first time. It attracted a very diverse audience and brought environmentalism to the general public with a really accessible way for people to give back to the planet and feel great. This optimises what we do. Our mission is to create sustainable communities. We work in really creative ways to: Connect communities. Increase wellbeing. Build capacity. And deliver action. We work strategically to create a ripple effect of social change. And we work with our partners to create events that people love. The change that is needed in regional communities to address the social and environmental challenges that we face is deep change. Deep change takes time. Today marks 💯 years of existence of the Singapore-Malaysia link causeway. A link that benefits both countries economically and socially. During COVID, when borders were abruptly closed in 2020 by then temporary PM of Malaysia, this posed a massive interruption to the lives of many. Economic trade, job loss and family relations were severely impacted with the outbreak and closure of borders. I remember some couldn’t even bid farewell to lost loved ones for people who work across the causeway. It was during this time that made me reflect how we should all appreciate simple things like connectivity. Connectivity is just like integration. Work-life integration for example or even integration between systems to people for that matter. With great integration, comes great connectivity. We seem to take for granted the beauty of connectivity in a fast-paced life when things are semi-automated. But, imagine a world where information can flow automatically without you lifting a finger, a world where AI can improve how you conduct and expand your businesses without taking too much time and effort. At the moment, QR codes have been implemented at Singapore immigration checkpoints to speed up the checks. Looking forward to more digital transformation at the immigration checkpoints. How life changing that would be?

The Reuse Playbook for Sports and Entertainment is an incredibly valuable resource for venues looking to move away from single-use, particularly as the reuse movement grows exponentially around the world. I'd love to see more engagement in reuse from Canada's most popular sports and entertainment venues (Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena, BC Place and many more). As an avid concert-goer, I've seen firsthand how many single-use aluminum cups wastefully end up in the garbage and the worrying number of single-use plastic water bottles discarded post-event at venues across the country. The problem of single-use waste at events needs to be addressed urgently, and reuse is the answer! 💡 ⬇
