The only change I would have humbly suggested to Ms Hepburn about this truth filled statement is to change empathy to compassion— the acts that grow out of feeling empathy for others. As the years fly by in my career, I have come to believe that the health care system is a microcosm of the human experience and presents us with the opportunity to face, address and acknowledge our collective contemporary societal challenges and strengths. We spend a necessary but disproportionate amount of time wrestling with the challenges. The magic of our strengths are like the unsung hero who show up everyday and hold us together, inspire us and feed our desire to come back another day. The feeling of empathy and the acts of compassion take us out of ourselves and into serving the collective good—a sacred fuel that’s needed to stabilize our sense of a healthy and kind community, inside the healthcare system and in our global community. How do you show compassion? How do you acknowledge it when you see it? What prevents you from acting with compassion? What compassionate acts have you received from others?

[The Birthing of a New Child] It's been 12 years since, I had the courage to form a partnership with anyone. Partnering with someone who truly have the heart for what we need to do, what we want to do, and not all head and no heart. All heart and no hands. All hands and no head. It sounds like I am searching for a perfect partner. Which will never appear. I am scared, that it will fail again. That partnering with someone would be more problematic than doing it alone. That there will a lot of difficult conversations, that we need to honest and open, and explore what that truly means. And all these take time, and courage. All these take hope and faith. And this is what entrepreneurship looks like. This is what partnership looks like. These are hard to encapsulate within an entrepreneurship workshop/training programme. A lot of time and space in the entrepreneurship programmes, focus on the idea, and bringing the idea to life. Not many, if any at all, touches on the human aspect of the process. It is a slower, more deliberate process. It is a lot of conversation, a lot of discomfort. A lot of alignment, with self and with the other. A lot of kindness, a lot of patience, to self, and to the other. A lot of trust, for self, and for the other. Do I feel tension? Yes. Do I feel anxious? Yes.
