We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Today our subsidiary, Willis Sustainable Fuels (UK) Limited, was awarded a £4.721M grant in the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom's Advanced Fuels Fund (AFF) competition. This is a great vote of confidence in the planned development of our new Carbonshift Power-to-Liquid (PtL) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) refinery project at Teesworks in Tees Valley, England. WLFC CEO, Austin Willis shared, “The aviation industry is at a critical juncture, with a pressing need to transition towards more environmentally friendly energy sources. SAF represents one of the most promising pathways to achieving sizeable reductions in carbon emissions". Going on further to say "We genuinely appreciate the commitment to develop a robust UK SAF industry and are honored that WLFC’s pioneering project has been selected by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, reinforcing our potential to play a pivotal role in supporting the UK's ambitious goal of supplying 10% SAF by 2030." TRC Companies, Inc., having acquired GNA (a TRC Company), has reached an exciting milestone — more than $1.5 billion in funds secured for its clients’ clean #transportation projects. With projects in more than 40 U.S. states and Canadian provinces, the secured funding has aided in the deployment of more than 9,300 #electricvehicles and pieces of equipment. The team's ability to craft and lead compelling projects and grant applications has resulted in the annual displacement of hundreds of thousands of tons of NOx reductions and hundreds of millions of gallons of diesel fuel. A consortium featuring Boeing and aviation investment firm Clear Sky Fund is backing the UK’s Firefly, a company using sewage as a feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Firefly Green Fuels uses a process called hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) to convert sewage into SAF, with HTL’s combination of high heat and pressure producing biocrude oil and biochar. While biochar can be useful as both a fertiliser and a medium for capturing CO2, the biocrude can be further processed into fuels, including SAF. According to the consortium, SAF produced in this manner reduces lifecycle CO2 emissions by more than 90 per cent compared to traditional jet fuel.
