Artificial intelligence is starting to be a game-changer for #investors, helping VCs find and assess #startups in new ways. Nokia's NGP Capital has been a forerunner in using #AI but in general #CVC investors are behind the curve on this trend. It does take significant investment, independence and discipline to do this properly. The global AI industry has undergone a remarkable transformation, more than doubling its value in just three years to an impressive $240 billion, with a quarter of a billion users worldwide. This surge in growth has captured the attention of venture capital investors, who have injected billions of dollars into AI companies and startups. Despite a broader slowdown in VC funding, 2023 stands out as the second-best year for fundraising in the history of the AI market, following its exceptional performance in 2021. #vcfunding #venturecapital #artificialintelligence #machinelearning #deeptech

SVB’s latest State of the Markets report just dropped, and it’s probably our most insightful one yet. This edition brings you the essential insights around #fundraising, #investment and company #burn, but we’ve also worked in fresh analysis exploring new areas like patent data, series graduation rates and valuation discounts for non-core markets. Here are some of the “ah-hah” takeaways for me: -Patent data shows that more inventive companies are proving more resilient during the downturn. -Down rounds aren’t the end of the road. Most companies who take a down round go on to raise again, and a majority of them increase their valuation. -Emerging managers face a harsh reception. With fundraising at a six-year low, a lower share of first time funds may make it to fund two, a trend we saw post Dot-Com. -AI isn’t a flash in the pan. A decade of slow growth prefaced the breakout success of generative AI. Now a core group of companies is developing the tech to power use cases across the innovation economy. Always such a pleasure working with and learning from my colleagues Eli Oftedal and Andrew Pardo, CFA. And tremendous kudus to Geoffrey Neill for this great animation of the AI universe.
Artificial intelligence remains a bright spot within the venture ecosystem, with AI driving one quarter of US seed deals and accounting for large portion of VC fundraising. Read the new SVB State of the Markets report for a full update on what the ongoing AI boom means for the wider innovation economy. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gyu78Ybm #VC #AI #startups

AI Investment Surge: The New VC Gold Rush 🌟🤖 TL;DR: VCs are investing heavily in AI, with AI startups raising $12.4B in May alone, capturing 40% of global VC. Despite high interest, uncertainties around models and competition from tech giants make these investments risky. The trend is driven by both true believers and those seeking future deal access. Highlights: • AI dominates VC market via massive investments. • May saw $12.4B raised by AI companies—40% of global VC. • Return to pre-pandemic norms, focusing on unicorns. • Investments are unpredictable; most failing expectations. • Challenges include unproven models and big tech competition. • Two camps of investors: true believers and halo hopefuls. • Future might blur lines between AI and other tech startups. #VentureCapital #AIStartups #TechInvesting #Innovation #FutureOfTech Article Source: https://lnkd.in/gdbxaKB7
