Detection of chlormequat and mepiquat in plant matrices 🍃 Chlormequat and mepiquat are commonly used in the cultivation of cereals, fruits, vegetables, and spices. Maximum residue levels have been established in the EU. In a recent US pilot study, chlormequat was detected in 80% of study participants. Oat-based foods also showed high detection rates. Eurofins Food and Feed Testing laboratories can provide quick and reliable detection of chlormequat and mepiquat in plant-based foods through individual or multi-methods, in conjunction with pesticide screenings. Aflatoxins in food 🌿✅🔬 Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced by two species of Aspergillus, a fungus found especially in areas with hot and humid climates. Climate change is expected to have an impact on the presence of aflatoxins in food. As aflatoxins are known to be genotoxic and carcinogenic, exposure through food should be kept as low as possible. Aflatoxins can occur in foods such as groundnuts, tree nuts, maize, rice, figs and other dried foods, spices, crude vegetable oils and cocoa beans, as a result of fungal contamination before and after harvest. Several types of aflatoxins are produced naturally. Aflatoxin B1 is the most common in food and among the most potent genotoxic and carcinogenic aflatoxins. It is produced both by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Aflatoxin M1 is a major metabolite of aflatoxin B1 in humans and animals, which may be present in milk from animals fed with aflatoxin B1 contaminated feed. About Us: Medhya Enterprises is the exporter of top-quality conventional, IPM and organic seed spices and agro commodities from India, ensuring compliance with food regulations of various countries. 🌿✅🔬 #SpicesExporter #Aflatoxins #FoodSafety #Mycotoxins #Aspergillus #ClimateChange #Genotoxic #Carcinogenic #FoodContamination #PublicHealth #SafeFood #AflatoxinAwareness #FoodSecurity #HealthRisks #Agriculture #FungalContamination

These were harvest 4 years ago. My inlaws planted a garden of round onions. The harvest was good but they didn't quite know how to dry them properly. Fortunately it was during the Christmas period, so I did this- tied them together and just hang them over a warm dry place. This is learnt through a friend in Canada who lives on a farm and grows her own food. In the highlands, the round haus kunai- haus kuk is perfect. Some do the net air drying. How can we encourage our people to Farm? Do we have the potential PNG! yes we do. Maybe we should stop importing foods which we locally grow and encourage our subsistence farmers to go into farming large scale to meet demands rather than allowing companies to import what is locally grown. Farming is driven by market demands!. We need to empower people with information- "how to" and "what to do". Exporting has a lot of expectations, especially is areas of biosecurity, hence, let's start with empowering, upskillng and educating our people to farm and meet local market demands before embarking on feeding the world. Our land will always produce the best yield. Russia is cutting out GMO products, and soon the world will want a go green form of cultivation to yield healthy nutritious food. If Tonga can export Pumkins to Japan, why can't we? #educateandelevate #nutrition #foodscience #mindset #Agriculture #supplyanddemand #domesticmarket

My life changed after questioning 'What is on my plate' When food is supposed to be nutritious, greens are supposed to be healthiest, are they? • when they grow in chemical and poison-deposited soil (soil may contain toxic metal deposits in this developing nation's industrialization/conventional agriculture/study your local/treat your food source before consuming) • when the seeds are from labs (check from GMO/and type of hybrid/ mostly prefer eating heirloom source) • when they are sprayed with chemicals from herbicides to pesticides and more salt inputs from DAP to every other thing (shop natural/organic) • when they are dipped in chemicals to stay fresh in markets. have been transported and stored in the long run. (shop local/direct from your local farmer/do the process to remove chemicals before consuming) check the agriculture practice. we all know, that food should be healing rather than poisoning ourselves to illness. the appearance, color, and taste of the food grown from heirloom seeds always amazes me, like the Ladies finger plant you see here from my farm. it would be much easier if you start your garden/responsibly/encourage your local farmer to produce in a kind and purchase back at a reasonable price. you can save your pockets from fancy organic shops. #agriculture #food #tradition #seeds #farming #nutrition #health #foodforthought

Wine comes with undesired extras too. Water and microplastics we all know of. Wine and pesticides have also been discussed for a while. Some facts: "vineyards comprise only 3.7% of France’s agricultural acreage, they absorb 20% of the country’s agricultural pesticide use" "proportion of wine that contains multiple pesticide residues – from 14% in 2016 to 50% in 2022." "we tested 400 of the top-selling wines... we found 88% of all wines we tested have at least one pesticide" Thanks to Ricard Pardell for sharing some initial resources on the topic. Unfortunately, drinking wine, as Charles Palmer suggested, does not take care of everything. #wine #vineyard #data #pesticides #chemicals p.s. Are you doing something to try to minimize this effect in your wines?
