In anything you do having the right tools is essential. Sailors will know sailing dead downwind is a challenge but with our new winged spinnaker from Precision Sails it’s a pleasure! Tap the link below for some dreamy downwind sailing and to see how we set this awesome sail up.
Our new video is out! Please watch, comment, like, share and subscribe if you haven’t yet!! Sailing around the world it’s best to have specific sails for different sailing conditions. We have struggled to sail deep downwind but today we’re launching our new winged spinnaker and it is proving to be an absolute game changer. Though, we can’t get too distracted by its beauty as we have to sail 50 nautical miles from Tahanea to Fakarava within daylight and unfortunately won’t be leaving or entering the passes at an ideal time. Keep watching to see how the day unfolds. https://lnkd.in/gWfRZAC9 Kristin Potenti Harbors Unknown Seawind Catamarans Precision Sails

Rebreathers are a vital tool in advancing underwater research with proper structure and training. Demonstrated here by our team on the Ocean Census Macaronesia Expedition. All part of the FSDA goals in training and application at Tvärminne Zoological Station, University of Helsinki
🤿 Divers have been a vital part of the Ocean Census Macaronesia Expedition. Skilled divers from Finnish Scientific Diving Academy have been using rebreathers to conduct dives up to 50 metres, uncovering new insights into our underwater world. Their remarkable efforts, combining science with diving, have unearthed fascinating samples. ⁉️ What hidden ocean life do you think awaits discovery in the uncharted depths? Winter scuba diving in Utah? That's right. Thanks to the state’s active geologic history, deep faults and fractures in the bedrock provide conduits for geothermal springs. Here are a few winter scuba diving destinations in our region: http://ow.ly/6OXJ50HceMJ #utahgeology #geothermal

Just fifteen minutes watching and counting butterflies is not only super important for butterfly conservation, it can help lessen anxiety and boost a sense of nature connectedness. Sign up to take part for a quiet moment by yourself, or count with friends, families, and colleagues. It would be great to see workplaces counting butterflies in their outside spaces or nearby parks, bringing nature and wellbeing into the work day. Link to my blog about our research with Butterfly Conservation on the impacts of taking part in the 2022 count: https://lnkd.in/edh5F2DP
Tune in LIVE for the launch of #BigButterflyCount 2024 on YouTube this Friday at 1:30pm! 🎉🦋 We'll be diving into the spectacular world of butterfies and moths with Butterfly Conservation Vice President Chris Packham, plus guest presenters Indy Kiemel Greene and Leanna Fernandez. Url: https://lnkd.in/eGmyU4ny Like most marine publications, we refer to inflatable jackets with an auto-inflate feature in shorthand as “automatic inflatable PFDs,” or “auto-inflating PFDs.” In fact, we should regard all of the so-called auto-inflate PFDs on the market as manually inflatable PFDs with an auto-inflate feature. This is precisely how International Maritime Organization regards them, for good reason. This is more than just a matter of semantics. Expecting too much of your inflatable PFD can delay reactions, and lead to unpreparedness or equipment failures that can be dangerous, even fatal. Mark Bologna of Landfall Navigation in Stamford, outlined the specific steps sailors should take each season to ensure their PFD remains reliable. And to emphasize his point, he shared several stories of gear that was rendered useless due to misuse, ignorance, or plain neglect by their owners. Fortunately in these anecdotes the disasters were narrowly averted. Agile, adaptable Senior Technical Writer and Renewable Energy Engineer seeking work in the Renewable Energy Engineering sector | PREPARE. RESPOND. ADAPT.
I was co-author of an IWA Blue-Green Systems paper on a Community Dry Toilet and Urine Diversion System Using IAPMO WE•Stand © 2018; it was published 30 July 2019. This system was issued a permit by the City of Portland, OR, US in September 2019, and is still in use by ~50 persons at the Kailash EcoVillage. Bear in mind, not all of the urine in this system is diverted. https://lnkd.in/gJj32cYB Let's be clear, unless you can afford one of those ~$1,000 composting toilets, most of the decomposition occurs outside the commode/toilet in a processor. And so, Alisa Keesey's deep experience and well-founded eco-sanitary/ecosan dry toilet model is workable for most citizenry—that is, as long as citizenry can buy-in to contributing to safely manage the decomposition management process. Getting citizenry to be comfortable with the humanure management process is the biggest challenge for more wide spread adoption.
Yesterday I learned: „Urine diversion is a cult“ I recently started diving into composting human output. It’s still a frontier for me. Apparently it’s a critical decision whether to divert or not. Have you used a compost toilet before?
