Today at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting, I was honored to host a roundtable discussion at the Trade & Investment Leadership session.   Discussions with the leaders of global companies confirmed what I am hearing from many clients: managing geopolitical risks that are affecting companies' global supply chains and operations are a top concern for corporate leaders. So it was encouraging to see the exchange of ideas between executives and policy makers at this session on how the public and private sectors can do more to work in partnership to strive towards a new and more inclusive multilateral form of globalization.    This was a great example of productive dialogue at this Annual Meeting, and there were a number of areas identified for further discussion at the upcoming 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in February. #WEF24

Over the past few years, the expectations that business leaders in Japan have had to grapple with from investors, employees, customers, partners and other stakeholders have become more complex and outright daunting in scope. Leaders have long been asked to see the big picture and around corners. But today, as part of the mandate of running a viable, profitable and competitive company, business leaders are expected to factor in demographic change, social impact, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, geopolitics, supply chain scrutiny, artificial intelligence considerations, the global competition for talent, and diversity, equity and inclusion concerns, among others.
