Our final day of London Climate Action Week featured collaborative sessions with a focus on climate science, the importance of embedding purpose in the identities of brands, and the deployment of AI in climate action. Freuds Group kicked off the day by hosting a breakfast panel, moderated by Maeve Campbell, Media Manager, University of Cambridge’s Sustainability Institute, which brought together climate scientists, sustainability experts, storytellers, and youth climate activists. The panel discussed the latest climate science data, the implications of reaching 2 degrees of warming as opposed to 1.5 degrees, and the impact this will have on the most vulnerable communities. Speakers included Joshua Amponsem, Co-Director, Youth Climate Justice Fund, and Michelle Li, Founder, clever carbon. Later in the afternoon, Global Goals Business Avengers, B Lab and Ocean Bottle co-hosted a roundtable to bring together some of the most ambitious purpose-led companies from the B Corp movement. The B Corp movement has led the way in redefining a more conscious form of capitalism. Yet B Corp companies comprise a tiny percentage of the global economy. The discussion focused on how large multinational corporates and their B Corp counterparts can take inspiration from each other’s work. Speakers included Priya C., Global Brand Director, WUKA, Galahad Clark, co-founder, Vivobarefoot and Jennie-Marie Larsen, Founder, The PI (Planetary Intelligence). The week was capped off by HSBC Asset Management hosting a reception to discuss how AI can act as an enabler in the energy transition and help improve the efficiency of renewable energy. Investors, asset owners, NGOs and representatives from the public sector explored the energy consumption of AI, the opportunities and challenges associated with using AI in the development of renewables, and the role that investors must play in driving the energy transition. The event was moderated by Christopher Marquis, Professor, Cambridge Judge Business School, and included remarks from Adam Elman, Head of Sustainability EMEA, Google, Michelle Hillman, Head of Responsible Investment and Strategy Execution, HSBC Asset Management, Scott McClurg, Head of Private Credit, HSBC Asset Management and Christophe Defert, Head of Climate Technology Investments, HSBC Asset Management. Thank you to all our partners, contributors, and attendees for a fantastic week at London Climate Action Week! #SDGs #Sustainabledevelopment #Goal 17 #LCAW

I bet the AI discussion was particularly interesting considering that its huge energy requirements means tech companies are missing their environmental targets.
