'The Croissant Explorer: Job Hunting Adventures in the CI World' - Post 2 🌍The Perils of Follow-Up Fiasco! 🚶♀️ So, here I am, strolling down the job hunting path, trying to unravel the mysterious world of 'follow-up' etiquette. Should I follow up or not? According to some fancy application platforms and renowned employment websites, it's a way to "show interest." After contemplating for days about whether to take the plunge for the roles I applied to earlier this month, I thought, "Why not?" I mean, what's the harm in it, right? It's all in the name of learning! Well, let me tell you, I received a response of a recruiters for one of my favourite job vacancies (yes, the ones I literally hearted 💗 to create a shortlist from the whopping 60 applications I submitted... ) and safe to say his tone of voice shows some mild irritation... Is this the worst that could happen? Well, from a job hunter's perspective, it's definitely up there in the "worst case scenario" category! This specific role seems sooo amazing......! But fear not, I have gained some valuable lessons from this: 🔹 Lesson 1: Choose Your Experiments Wisely: From now on, I'll be more discerning when it comes to selecting which applications to experiment with. Maybe I won't mess with my top favourite roles anymore. Let’s be mindful with the variables Xs : no need to temper with them so much and try to comprehend the responses Ys. I am happy to save those for smoother sailing and focus on other opportunities for follow-up shenanigans. 🔹 Lesson 2: No Obligation, No Problem: Just because someone suggests something doesn't mean we have to follow it! It's okay to take a moment, evaluate the situation, and decide if a follow-up is worth the potential irritation it may cause. We are the masters of our own follow-up destinies!
