Alabama ranks 50 out of 51 on the best and worst states to have a baby. Shout out to the Women's Foundation of Alabama for the advocacy work they do to improve childcare in our state and fight for parental protections. If we cannot protect mothers and children, we will continue to see unacceptable mother and infant mortality rates, low labor participation rates, and a perpetual cycle of poverty. https://lnkd.in/gnUuQ2yi

Action Against Hunger advocates for Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) due to its significant advantages for both mothers and babies. For mothers, KMC promotes quicker postpartum recovery, reduces postpartum depression, and increases milk production. For babies, it helps fight infections, maintains their body temperature, and supports healthy weight gain. This method, rooted in the nurturing bond between mother and child, not only saves lives but also fosters an environment conducive to healthy growth and development. By championing KMC, Action Against Hunger aims to ensure healthier, thriving families from the very start of their lives. #ActionAgainstHunger #KangarooMotherCare #InfantCare #KMCAdvocacy #MotherAndChild #CommunityService #KangarooCare #NewbornHealth #MaternalSupport #PretermInfants #ChildHealth #KMCImpact #NurturingCommunities #MotherhoodJourney #CommunityWellness #EarlyChildhoodCare #SupportingFamilies #HealthierTomorrow

It's the 3rd day of Do Good Week CLT and another way to support our work and perinatal families in our community is to... RALLY - EMAIL, CALL, VOTE !! As it's also the last day of Black maternal health week, you can double whammy your support with this one. There are many issues before our government at every level, including local, that require our politicians hear our voices. I heard it best said... Vote like you are a hard working Black pregnant person who is struggling to afford the high rents in CLT, and whose job does not offer without paid leave benefits (like 87% of working individuals in NC). -You'll immediately increase your chances for negative mental and physical health birthing outcomes by 3x (already the highest of all advanced countries in the world), -Be more susceptible to a confluence of bias and neglect in your medical interactions and care regardless of education or socio-economic status -You'll face the now common problem of not being able to afford time off and yet also not able to afford or find safe childcare in order to work to hold onto your job or your place to live (32% on our unhoused population are individuals & Families with minor children) in the next edition of our newsletter, due out tomorrow, we'll detail many local policies up for debate or vote this year and where to contact to make you voice known . Until then, visit these organizations currently shouting for change on our behalf - @blackmamasmatter, @chamberofmothers, @policycentermmh if you know of other share in the comments! Now Go, RALLY and ACT! #perinataleducation #prenatalcare #pregnancyresources #expectingmomsupport #prenatalwellness #pregnancyjourney #momsupportnetwork #nervoussystemhealth #charlottenc #clt #charlottemoms #families #mindfulmamasclt #empoweredmoms #momsofcharlotte #momstobecharlotte #cltmom #mindbodybabync #vote #blackmamasmatter

ACTION NEEDED - It may be 4/1 #AprilFools Day, but the #maternalhealthcrisis is no joke! We need YOU to make 4 Calls with 1 Goal: Let NY know you expect ACTION to protect the lives of birthing people who suffer a stillbirth. Takes under 4 min! Leaving messages works great! CALL SCRIPT below! 1️⃣ 518-455-4355 - NY State Assembly (Program & Counsel Labor Office) 2️⃣ 518-455-2585 - NY State Senate (Program & Counsel) 3️⃣ 518-474-8390 - NY State Governor (press 1 to skip the greeting and leave a message!) 4️⃣ Your NY Assembly Representative - link to look up at pushpregnancy.org/nypfl Here's your call script! 📲 Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I'm a constituent from [City/Town], NY [Zip Code]. I'm calling to thank you for using the 2024 Budget to close the dangerous loophole stripping NY's stillbirth moms of their promised paid leave only days after birth. I know it's April Fool's Day, but the maternal health crisis in this state is no joke. So THANK YOU for making the lives of birthing people a priority! --The Background-- Last session - despite overwhelming popularity & broad bipartisan support - New York FAILED to pass critical legislation to close a dangerous and cruel gap in our current #PaidFamilyLeave law which is REVOKING paid leave out of #stillbirth mothers' hands just days after birthing and burying their child. This has literally put birthing people's lives on the line, forcing moms back to work during the riskiest weeks of the #postpartum period when their bodies have not yet healed and they're at significantly higher risk of #maternalmortality due to their loss. Black & Brown families especially are in danger. NY has the power to fast-track this bill through the budget & keep NY's stillbirth moms safe. Use your voice to demand change NOW! NY State, the people have spoken: you CANNOT claim to care about #BlackMaternalHealth if you don't take immediate action on this issue. It's time to #DOTHERIGHTTHINGNY and stop stripping stillbirth parents of the paid leave they've been promised. #nypflstillbirth #StillbirthIsStillBIRTH #stillbirthadvocacy #maternalhealth #PAW24 #unitedwepush ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿 For Families, For Babies, For Change. 🔥

🌍 World Population Day 🌍 Today, we recognize the importance of family planning in ensuring better health for women and creating happy, healthy families. Access to family planning methods is crucial for women’s health. It allows them to make informed choices about their reproductive health, reduces the risks of unintended pregnancies, and lowers the chances of complications during childbirth. By planning their families, women can pursue education and careers, contributing to their overall well-being and the prosperity of their communities. Moreover, family planning helps families space their children, ensuring that each child receives adequate attention, care, and resources, leading to happier and healthier family units. Let’s work together to promote access to family planning services and empower women to take control of their reproductive health. A healthier world begins with informed and supported choices. #WorldPopulationDay #FamilyPlanning #WomensHealth #HealthyFamilies #EmpowerWomen

Yesterday, we celebrated the launch of #RxKids, a landmark #guaranteedincome program that will give every pregnant resident of Flint, Michigan $1,500 followed by $500/month for the first year of their child’s life. Spearheaded by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha and Professor Luke Shaefer this program uses unrestricted cash payments to help vulnerable families and newborns thrive during the most critical stage of a child’s life. For many families, pregnancy and childbirth exacerbate economic hardships as parents with no paid leave are forced to reduce working hours, pay for costly childcare, or drop out of the workforce altogether. #RxKids is the definition of #CashAsCare – the idea that guaranteeing cash is a powerful public health intervention, especially for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and immigrant women who are systematically denied resources to support their health. By giving parents the cash they need to care for themselves and their newborns during the most neurodevelopmentally important time in their child’s life, #RxKids is helping to improve both the immediate and long-term health outcomes for families. We’re proud to have co-led the advisory committee that included Chelsea Clinton, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist, and Neal Hegarty from the Mott Foundation and encourage you to learn more about how this first-of-its-kind #guaranteedincome program is transforming the lives of families across the city of Flint: https://flintrxkids.com/
