This morning, Stephen Curry was named the 2022 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year. Curry is the first individual player in franchise history to earn the prestigious honor, which Sports Illustrated has awarded annually since its inception in 1954. "This is what Stephen Curry did this year: - He won his fourth championship. - He won that Finals MVP award after scoring an efficient 31.2 points per game against the best defensive team in the league. - He graduated from Davidson, 13 years after he left for the NBA following his junior season. - He expanded his charitable reach: Since 2019, the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation he and Ayesha founded has served more than 25 million meals to food-insecure children, spent $2.5 million on literacy-focused grants and distributed 500,000 books, according to Curry’s representatives. - He has also provided seed funding for men’s and women’s golf teams at Howard University, a historically Black school, and started the Underrated Golf Tour, a junior circuit designed to make the game more inclusive. - He is co-chair of Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote initiative. - And now, we name him Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year." Congratulations, Stephen!
Graduating from Davidson College clearly the most impressive accomplishment on the list for the year! Steph has been such an outstanding ambassador for the school, and I'll never forget the kindnesses I'm sure he has forgotten to my kids whenever we encountered him. I love it when people of influence put their time, resources, and money where their mouths are when it comes to lifting up their communities. Steph is the epitome of that.
I always knew this guy was something even when they said he was too small in college. I would say this is the most impressive thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n63KRld1oM
I don’t care! Sports is a distraction to what is really going on in our world. Stolen elections, corruption in governments. Inflation! High interest rates and the list goes on
Congratulations to #stephcurry - what a joy it is to watch you and the #Warriors. We’re literally watching the best shooter of all time. I hope more people get to appreciate you more before you leave the game. You have change the game forever. My son has never seen Jordan play, but he sure is watching every Warriors game on TV. Thank you for giving us joy in watching you play.
In 2015, he changed the game. In 2022, he has changed the world.
Such an inspiring person for all to admire. I recall his first rookie game in Oakland. I was living in Oakland for 1 short year. My grandfather and I enjoyed watching SO many games has recently passed at the age of 99. My grandfather and I were so impressed as his triumph of rookie of the year. So much history, fun and legacy! Congrats to you and your family for these amazing achievements!
Also won conference finals mvp, broke the all time 3 record and won all star game mvp as well as breaking the record for most 3s in the all star game. 👏🏾👏🏾

1yAnd most importantly, he’s one of the few wholesome players who still value family! His best accomplishments as a human to me are # 3 and on. Not to downplay his talent as a player, but those other items show his human qualities, and are “off screen” values that most of us don’t really see all the time. Go on with your bad self #currywitdasauce 🙌🏼🤌🏼👏🏼
