Corporate golf SUCKS (inaccessible to most; takes too long etc), so I and a few professional friends will be creating a new (not for profit) golf society in 2024 based on the following format (subject to change based on your suggestions): 1. Teams of 4 players, with only 1 player per team allowed a handicap below 24 - (the Captain) 2. Each Captain's job is to find 3 rookies in their company/customer base and mentor them to team greatness/victory 3. Each team of 4 must contain 2 men and 2 women 4. Events will consist of 6 hole games (potentially after some group coaching by a Golf Pro), with food and sponsor presentations afterwards 5. Each hole will be scored 'better ball stableford', with the team with the most total points overall winning an event (and potentially playoffs in event of ties :) 6. On each hole, every player will hit a first shot (the Tee Shot) and then play her or his own ball from the location of the best Tee Shot for the remainder of that hole 7. Every team will have to play at least 1 Tee Shot from each of their 4 players 8. No player shall be required to endure more than 10 shots on any hole (they'll pick up and move to the next hole at 10 shots) 9. Each Captain will solemnly swear to COMPETE WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT :), whilst we broaden golf's accessibility and reclaim it as a corporate networking option for those of us currently too embarrassed to suggest it. Anyone else spent time on the links this summer? Traditionally, golf and work have often gone hand-in-hand. Personally, I’m a bit of a golf addict. But I will say this: The golf course is a great place to get to know people. It’s next to impossible to golf 18 holes with a group and not learn a thing or two about each other. I don’t know what it is about golf, whether it’s the nature of the sport itself or the atmosphere of a golf course (or a combination of both). But I recently participated in a golf outing with three complete strangers and by the end the four of us were fast friends. So if you’re looking for a place to build or grow a relationship, try the golf course. #golf #relationships #networking
