As we approach the end of year 2023, it's the culture to start working on 2024 goals. Some will be achieve and some will not be achieve. That said, I will like to attend couple of conferences to gain more exposure and broaden my knowledge in clinical trials. I am more importantly looking for conferences and or trainings in area of Diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical trials amongst women of color, funding clinical trials and study start up processing. Working as a study start up associate, contract and budget negotiator on the CRO site of the trail, I would like to attend some of these conference to gain better knowledge and experience that will help drive start up processing faster so that subjects can be enrolled quickly and faster than expected into the study. #diversityinclinicaltrials #diversityandinclusion #contractmanagement #studystartup #fundconferences

Changing the world one post at a time: Aspiring leader uniting minds & orgs for wellness-focused innovation. Mother, Athlete, MBA, PCM, ISSA SYS/CYT, CBRE. #CreateChange
“The pervasive influence of money in medical research and education has profoundly altered the landscape, compromising the integrity of scientific inquiry. Financial constraints across government agencies, universities, and other institutions have made them reliant on the substantial resources of large multinational corporations. These corporations, leveraging their wealth, have secured influence over research outcomes and educational content. This influence often begins with the provision of grants. Corporations fund research projects and educational programs, ostensibly to support public health. However, these contributions frequently come with unspoken expectations. By funding these initiatives, corporations establish relationships with researchers and institutions, creating a dependency that subtly pressures recipients to align their outcomes with corporate interests. Additionally, corporations pay professionals for various roles, such as speaking engagements and consultancy, creating a financial incentive for these individuals to support corporate agendas. Educational programs, although presented as independent, often rely on corporate funding. Institutions are more likely to receive continued financial support if their programs favor the corporation’s products. The influence of money is subtle yet pervasive. Officially, these financial transactions are described as independent, but there is an implicit understanding that ongoing support depends on producing favorable outcomes. Institutions and individuals who critique or oppose corporate interests risk losing their funding, while those who comply are rewarded. This dynamic skews research priorities and public discourse, with the most well-funded voices often echoing corporate interests. The public remains largely unaware of these financial ties, trusting that medical research and educational programs are unbiased. However, the reality is a system where financial influence shapes the flow of information and impacts public health decisions. This situation emerged due to a combination of factors: diminishing public funding for research, the growing financial power of multinational corporations, and insufficient regulatory oversight. These factors have eroded the barriers meant to protect the independence of scientific inquiry and education. Addressing this issue requires increased transparency in funding sources, stricter regulations on conflicts of interest, and a renewed commitment to public investment in research. Without these measures, the influence of money will continue to distort the landscape of medical research and education, undermining the integrity of institutions relied upon for unbiased information and innovation.” #money #funding #research #innovation #justdoingmyjob #moral #regulations

Supporting Med Students Struggling With Match Day Results We've all experienced rejection and disappointment. However, not matching into a residency program can feel like a crushing blow for medical students. Finding no match listed after years of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work is heartbreaking. The emotional toll is immense. Feelings of failure, shame, and lost identity are common. How do we support students facing this profound disappointment? Extend a hand of empathy. Let them know you care. Listen without judgment and acknowledge their feelings. Share stories of resilience to inspire hope. Encourage them to explore alternative paths such as research, public health, or industry roles where their skills are still valuable. Foster an inclusive culture that recognizes temporary setbacks do not define someone's worth or potential. Help students connect with mentors and counseling. Make space for unconventional journeys. Before becoming doctors, we are all humans. Supporting students through hardship is vital to building a humane healthcare system. With empathy and practical guidance, we can help them thrive despite initial challenges. Talented, dedicated students always have more opportunities on the horizon. For now, they need our support to believe this truth. Our shared humanity compels us to reach out. Want to learn more about how you can support medical students who didn't match? We share the details and stories of resilience from Glauc Flock members who didn't match in tomorrow's newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gfQ7-23U
