Yesterday at the MM+M Women of Distinction event in NYC, GoodRx’s Chief Commercial Officer and President, Dorothy Gemmell, moderated a highly topical panel, “Improving Women’s Health Across Many Dimensions”. Dorothy was joined by three industry healthcare experts Pfizer’s Aditi Goenka, Daré Bioscience, Inc.'s Sabrina Johnson, and Deloitte Consulting's Andrew Davis who discussed new data on the impact of gender disparities on healthcare costs, treatment options, and outcomes. Panelists drew on their extensive experiences in the category to encourage candid discussion and remove stigma about gender-specific challenges in drug development, the importance of having a clear value proposition for payers, and the current climate impacting reproductive rights and other critical women’s health issues. “There is good news about how much progress has been made, but we still have so far to go”, said Gemmell. Investing in Women-Centric Research and Development (R&D) To achieve true gender equity in healthcare, we must bridge the gap in funding between men’s and women’s health initiatives. By investing in initiatives like the Repro Grants, which awards up to $100,000 for research projects aimed at deepening our understanding of female reproductive biology, we pave the way for better-informed care and improved outcomes. But it doesn't stop there! Clinical trials must embrace inclusivity from the start, with diverse representation informing trial design and biomarker thresholds. This means considering the unique impact of diseases on women and ensuring adequate representation in research organizations. At NPWH, we recognize that increasing women’s representation in healthcare leadership isn't just about fairness – it's about driving innovation. We’ve seen firsthand how teams with diverse gender representation show higher levels of effectiveness, leading to biomedical inventions that directly benefit women's health. Let's work together to continue advocating for equitable funding, inclusive research practices, and diverse representation in healthcare leadership. Together, we can close the women’s health gap and pave the way for a healthier future for all. 💪🚺 Check out the full report here: https://lnkd.in/ejD2zMqr #WomensHealth #GenderEquity #InclusiveHealthcare #WHNP

8th March 2024, International Women's Day A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year's campaign theme #InspireInclusion emphasizes the importance of education and awareness for diversity in fostering inclusion and empowering women. Whilst we celebrate the #inspireinclusion theme to promote diversity in leadership positions let us not forget that good health is the fundament of our existence. Let #inspireinclusion inspire to improve women’s health: Access to #equitablehealthcare is a fundamental human right : access to affordable, non-discriminatory health care for women remains a global problem #Globalwomenshealthburden shows: o 43% are conditions that neither affect women disproportionately nor differently eg. ischemic heart disease, tuberculosis o 47% affect women disproportionately eg. auto-immune diseases and migraine o 4% affect women differently eg. atrial fibrillation and colon cancer o 5% are women specific conditions eg. fertility related and gynecological. o 50% of the burden affects women of working age. #Womencentriccare across a life course needs a holistic approach that goes beyond sexual or reproductive health. #Educationandawareness on the most debilitating women’s health issues: 1 out of 3 women are dying of cardiovascular disease (CVD), compared to 1 out of 11 dying of breast cancer However, CVD in women remains under-studied, under-recognized, under-diagnosed and under-treated. #educatewomen and #educatehealthcareprofessionals. CVD is up to 80% preventable #womenshealthcaregap is “The Grand Canyon” (quote Dr. Jane Delgado, USA) Women’s Health access matters #WHAMReport provides data driven evidence on how investing more in women’s health research, and improving women’s lives can have huge societal economic impacts. Closing the #WomensHealthGap has the potential to provide A $1 Trillion GDP opportunity annually to improve Lives and Economies (WEF & McKinsey Health Institute, January 2024) So, let #inspireinclusion also inspire to improve women’s health!

President Joe Biden is taking significant steps to boost research on women's health care by signing an executive order and announcing over 20 new actions and commitments by federal agencies, including $200 million for research at The National Institutes of Health. This initiative, part of a broader effort, emphasizes the importance of strengthening data standards and investing in transformative change for women's health. The executive order reflects a comprehensive effort to address the underfunding and understudy of women's health research. Despite significant progress, there's still much to learn about preventing, diagnosing, and treating various health conditions that affect women differently than men. This includes common diseases like heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, as well as conditions unique to women such as endometriosis and fibroids. The White House's focus on women's health research aligns with ongoing efforts led by First Lady Jill Biden and the White House Gender Policy Council. The goal is to galvanize research efforts, integrate women’s health across federal research portfolios, and create a nationwide network dedicated to studying women's health comprehensively. These initiatives come at a crucial time, amidst discussions about reproductive rights and recent legal rulings affecting women's health care. President Biden's commitment to advancing women's health research underscores the administration's dedication to improving the health and lives of women across the country. #WomensHealth #Research #TransformativeChange

Equality encompasses social and economic aspects and ensures health equity for all individuals who identify as women. Join us in taking action on Women's Equality Day by contributing to the cause of health equity in these ways: → Educate yourself and others about the unique challenges individuals identifying as women face regarding cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. → Support organizations like FWC that work tirelessly to advance research, improve access to care, and provide resources to those affected by gynecologic cancers. → Share your knowledge and engage in conversations about health disparities that disproportionately affect marginalized communities. Our collaborative efforts can lead to a future where everyone has equal access to healthcare, regardless of background or socioeconomic status. #WomensEqualityDay #GynCancers #MoveTheMessage

AMAZING News for Women's Health! President Biden unveils the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. Led by First Lady Jill Biden, agencies like NIH and Defense must report within 45 days on efforts and suggestions to enhance women's health. This move addresses long-standing disparities, notably in conditions like heart disease, impacting more women than any other disease. One figure: ONLY 1% of health care research and innovation, according to McKinsey & Company, is invested in female-specific conditions outside of oncology. The directive sets priority areas, from heart attacks to menopause, for transformative investments. Biden envisions bold solutions through public-private partnerships to drive innovation and close research gaps. Jill Biden emphasizes the urgency of providing answers to every woman. Let's celebrate this historic step toward prioritizing and researching women's health! #WomensHealth #ResearchRevolution #HealthEquity #InnovationForAll #intelligence #competitiveintelligence #strategicconsulting GlobalReach BI https://lnkd.in/gQPc4bbG
