With all this talk on AI recently, last semester, my partner, Hamad Asif Khan, and I tried to create our own mini-AI in a sense :D For our OOP Project, we decided to procedurally generate a map and place agents on said map, with some barebones intelligence and evaluation metrics to determine their movements and actions. The generation overlapped various octaves of Perlin noise to create some sense of uniformity along with random walkers to create disturbances in even distributions of terrain. The evaluation metric required initializing agents with traits and relationships and then surveying the land within their proximity for food and friends. It was incredible seeing it all come to life as various actions were added one-by-one and through the addition of seasons which added just enough variation to the environment to keep the interactions fresh and still easy enough to follow. Special thanks also to the various instructors for our OOP course: Nadia Nasir, Mohammad Salman and Muhammad Mobeen Movania; for all their invaluable guidance. Principal AI & MLOps Engineer @ Barclays | Author | Award Winner | Visiting Lecturer @ Oxford, Warsaw
I’ve applied for access to Devin, and in the meantime I’m going to try contribute to an open source project like Devika (https://lnkd.in/ehPfEnZq). My question to you is, in a world of agents (or more precisely “agentic” tools) that can build software, what do the software developers of the world do? I have my own thoughts (short Medium post about to land), but what do you all think? #ai #agents #softwaredevelopment
I gave Devin (the autonomous coding AI agent) my Netify key & asked it to build a website on how to rebuild civilization from scratch, making sure it was interactive and feature rich. It built a site with react quizzes, downloadable preparedness documents & copyright-free images. Kind of impressive, actually. You can play with the site here, it is 100% made by Devin: https://lnkd.in/ePPHfXiB Make sure to scroll to the bottom of each page, that is where it put the quizzes and stuff. Obviously not 100% at all yet, but I was surprised at how far it got while I forgot about it and did other things.

Ethan Mollick used Devin (the autonomous coding agent) to create a website. It created it all by itself. I tested the website. While it's a bit clunky, it is also remarkable. Some of the most valuable companies in the World were founded by coders. Think Zuckerberg for Facebook, Gates for Microsoft Brin/Page for Google. All coders. While coding brings innovation, it is also a limiter to innovation. Those with an idea and lacking coding skills must find someone who can code. Think about the doctor who is really good at understanding the human body. Maybe she/he has a idea of an app that integrates body and mind so that we approach health holistically. But the idea never gets implemented due to lack of coding knowledge. There will be a time when the ability to write code is no longer a limiter. Get your creative business ideas going because opportunities are growing...
