Queensland communities are sharing in nearly $10.5 million to help build resilience and reduce the risk of natural disasters through the 2022-23 Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund (QRRRF). This latest round of QRRRF will support 24 new resilience-building projects delivered by 23 local councils around the state. International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction -- 13th October. URG will be unveiling their Research aimed for Disaster Risk Reduction in three days on IDDRR. URG has integrated the Risk assessment for Natural hazards within GABM and now have evolved the Decision Making process within GABM to bring huge enhancements in the resilience of bridges which are critical and important to provide relief and rescue efforts. A one hour delay in reaching the disaster zone by relief agencies can cause additional death of victims. Resilient bridges ensure smooth and efficient transportation network. URG is happy to have evolved this innovation that will result in saving more lives. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)INDIA provides policies and procedures to save humanity alongwith NDRF and NIDM personnel. URG's innovation will strengthen the resolve to avoid loss of human lives. We salute all those teams which risked their own lives to save thousands of lives. Planning for Emergencies? Its worthwhile researching and the Australian Disaster Resilience Knowledge Hub (the 'Knowledge Hub') is a fantastic resource for Emergency Planners. The Hub is a national, open-source platform that supports and informs policy, planning, decision making and contemporary good practice in disaster resilience. The Knowledge Hub highlights current and emerging themes in the resilience sector, linking national guidelines with research and fostering collaboration among leading agencies and organisations. The Knowledge Hub also houses information on historical Australian disasters. The Knowledge Hub is managed by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience on behalf of the Australian Government, and replaces the Emergency Management Knowledge Hub. Access to the site is a 2min, why not sign up, after all a 'lived' perspective is often a useful way to develop plans and the lessons portal is particularly useful - Wildfires and Floods are good examples. https://lnkd.in/eNw9Berj

Oz Industries Forecasting, Inventor, Entrepreneur. Developer of new long range weather prediction technologies which enable weather forecasting at infinite timeframes.
Long range weather prediction should be the top priority. Most consider weather prediction impossible, and due to this introducing a change in the way we look at the weather will always be a difficult subject. I have developed a new methodology that enables severe weather periods and locations to be identified at all but infinite time intervals. All we need is someone to listen so we have a new solution to National and international disaster management. Today we have no more than 2 weeks to know let alone plan for an impending event. What if this could be extended to 4 weeks? How about 6-12months? More? Stay tuned.
What is Australia doing to reduce disaster risk? 🌏 As a nation, we have reached a significant milestone in aligning our action to increase our resilience to disasters. Emergency Management Ministers have endorsed the Second National Action Plan to implement the National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework. The Second National Action Plan is for all Australians – individuals, communities, organisations and sectors, and governments. By effectively coordinating and aligning action, the plan aims to reduce systemic disaster risk to create stronger, more secure and more resilient communities before, during and after disasters. Don’t get ready, stay ready. It’s easy to get stuck in response mode. The answer to effective emergency management is to merge strategic planning and the tactical to create more robust response, mitigation, and recovery plans. Some governments know they need to prepare, but aren’t sure what or where to start—making what happens next an even bigger hurdle. We work to understand the individual needs of your community while weaving in the bigger picture solutions: helping governments prepare, respond and recover. Contact RIC to discover how our people-focused solutions help build disaster resilience. https://lnkd.in/gBhdeCNt Photo: Alexis McKown #EmergencyManagement #DisasterRiskReduction #DisasterManagement #Alberta #Canada
