I recently attended a lunch and learn organized by OneRedmond featuring Puget Sound Energy on Clean Energy - "The Clean Energy Transformation: Building the Future of Energy Together." ⚡
Well organized, presented and attended, the Lunch and Learn offered the opportunity to understand the complex nature of the transition to clean energy: massive projects, multiple technologies, infrastructure challenges, resource needs, etc.
As I continue to delve into the topic of #rates, one topic that caught my attention was the need to drive #equity into the process and implementation of energy projects.
I can attest to the fact that all of our clients are looking at bringing #equity into their projects, be that through ensuring all their divisions are looking at how/where equitable investments are made, what #rate assistance programs can be used, and how clean energy transition needs to happen first among those that can least afford it. As wealthy individuals can more easily afford to outfit their homes, it is poorer families that will continue to carry a bigger financial burden.
Thankfully, through Federal and Local Assistance programs, as well as through partnerships between utilities and service providers, underserved communities can continue to benefit from clean energy.
