Cindy Camacho has written a spot-on article about isolation and loneliness in remote product management work. Amongst the advice she offers, she emphasises finding communities of like-minded professionals "who understand your challenges can provide both support and a sense of camaraderie." The Product-Led Alliance is one of these communities for product professionals. The Product Mind Community is another, specific to providing support to product professionals with their mental health & wellbeing. Both are totally free, and both are buzzing with activity. #productmanagement #mentalhealth #community

Very well put SreeVidya. The short description I have always used is Product Ops enables colleagues - not just product professionals - to focus on what we REALLY hire them to do: Sell, marketing, design products, build products, etc - by removing, automating or reducing any tasks not focused on these things. We also change habits, embed new ways of thinking and working. Two articles I wrote connect to this: Hiring Product Ops? What are your problems to solve? https://lnkd.in/epbVquah Pitching Product Operations https://lnkd.in/eFrsYusK
❓ What is Product Ops and why is it becoming a cornerstone in product management? As product management evolves, the demand for efficient processes and data-driven decisions grows. Enter Product Operations (Product Ops)—the strategic bridge between vision and execution that keeps teams aligned, agile, and focused on delivering results. 🚀 Product Ops isn’t just about processes. It’s the engine behind optimized workflows, better resource allocation, and faster, more impactful outcomes. When integrated into product management, it allows teams to concentrate on customer-centric strategy and innovation while ensuring the operational complexities are seamlessly managed. 💡 For product managers, embracing Product Ops is a game-changer. It lets us zero in on strategy and customer needs while freeing up bandwidth by offloading operational hurdles. 💬 How is your organization approaching Product Ops? Do you see it playing a bigger role in your product strategy? #ProductOps #ProductManagement #Innovation #Efficiency #Strategy #TechLeadership

I was genuinely waiting for the punchline... and it didn't arrive 🙄 If anyone tells you that putting Open to Work, taking a lower paid role, taking a lower position, working stacking shelves, taking a break from it all when the endless applications get too much - is desperate: Block them Delete them Never talk to them again You are much much more than bravado and balling and profile. 😦
CEO @ Unleash | We Build Executive Brands that Inspire, Impact, and Influence | Transformed 7,000+ Executives into Becoming Thought Leaders | Podcast Host | Author
Don't Put 'Open to Work' On Your Profile I once knew a talented exec, struggling to find his next role. He thought adding 'Open to Work' would make him stand out. Instead, it showed desperation. It repositioned him poorly. It screamed, “I’m like everyone else.” But here’s the hard truth: It diminishes your value. It’s a passive cry for help. It does not attract the right eyes. Executives, don’t fall into this trap. You have more to offer than a label. Use strategy, not a frame. Reach out with purpose. Show your worth through your actions. Stand out with a powerful brand. Make meaningful connections. Your next opportunity is out there. But it won’t come from a green circle. It comes from showcasing your true value. So, drop the 'Open to Work' sign. And start positioning yourself right.

🤦♂️ Absolutely not. No No No. Not every company is setup the same, not every company is capable of implementing all principles, not every company wants to prioritise this over continuing, or struggling to earn money and survive. The last thing the tech sector needs is another wave of 'purism' on a list of things you must do to be successful, based largely on a microscopic subset of business, and further putting pressure on product professionals. Understand what principles you actually already do, what else makes sense for you and is practical for your organisation to achieve, and just keep doing your best. Do not 'live and breathe' anything, be flexible, be practical and be pragmatic. Do not join a 'community' that looks down on others for not knowing certain books inside and out, or for not being a 'purist'.

I wish all companies lived and breathed by those principles from TRANSFORMED by Marty Cagan. Is that too much to ask? I. PRODUCT TEAM PRINCIPLES: - Empowered with Problems to Solve - Outcomes over Output - Sense of Ownership - Collaboration Selected insight: “The most fundamental of all product concepts is the notion of an empowered, cross-functional product team” II. PRODUCT STRATEGY PRINCIPLES: - Focus - Powered by Insights - Transparency - Placing Bets Selected insight: "Product strategy is all about which problems are the most important to solve" III. PRODUCT DISCOVERY PRINCIPLES: - Minimize Waste - Assess Product Risks - Embrace Rapid Experimentation - Test Ideas Responsibly Selected insight: "The heart of product discovery is rapidly testing product ideas for what the solution could be (…) An experimentation culture not only helps you address risks, but it is absolutely central to innovation." IV. PRODUCT DELIVERY PRINCIPLES: - Small, Frequent, Uncoupled Releases - Instrumentation - Monitoring - Deployment Infrastructure Selected insight: "This means, at a minimum, each product team releases their new work no less than every other week (…) For strong product companies, this means releasing several times per day (...)" V. PRODUCT CULTURE PRINCIPLES: - Principles over Process - Trust over Control - Innovation over Predictability - Learning over Failure Selected insight: "(...) this means moving from hands-on micromanagement to servant-based leadership with active coaching. It means leading with context rather than control." ----- P.S. Enjoy it? Oh alright then, I'll share some love this morning... #ProductOps 🌍 The role of Product Operations Professional is growing in popularity globally, including, I am very pleased to say, in the UK. We have proven the value both in terms of cost saving (My recent research article demonstrates the role pays for itself) and measurable KPIs (akin to CSAT scores). 🤯 Previous naysayers and sceptics have begun to embrace the concepts and the scope of responsibilities has naturally settled around core deliverables. 💖 But by far the biggest influence is the fantastic, supportive Product Ops community - real practitioners from all professional backgrounds, seniority, size and type of business, both celebrating the role and supporting all other Product Ops professionals. ICs, managers, fractional, consultants. We discuss, we disagree, we ideate, we share, we create and we support. 🤗 There are far too many to mention, and I would not want to call some out and miss others - by you are all brilliant. 👏 Organisations supporting this effort too such as Product-Led Alliance & Product Ops HQ hosting space, events and learning opportunities have had a fundamental impact on getting this role over the threshold from niche experiment to critical success role. Thank you
