Vote Yes to Prop 6: #TRWA It is no secret: Texas needs water, and the problem is just going to get worse. Texas voters must approve the changes to the state's constitution required to set up the new Texas Water Fund, a dedicated source of funding for water infrastructure and new water sources. This funding will be used to replace and upgrade our water utility infrastructure and develop new water resources, both necessary to meet the growth and demands of our state now and in the future. Has your municipality considered funding through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Clean Water Fund Program (CWFP)? The CWFP provides low-cost financing to Wisconsin municipalities in the form of reduced-interest rate loans for publicly owned wastewater and storm water projects that protect and improve public health and water quality. The CWFP also includes projects for compliance with a municipality's Wisconsin Pollution Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit. Additional points and criteria for regionalization, phosphorus reduction, and energy efficiency projects if considering principal forgiveness. Due to the continued high demand for financial assistance, there are loan limitations that will impact the 2025 CWFP applications. Texas is rapidly growing, with the population projected to increase by 73% by 2070. With growth comes the critical need for sustainable water resources. TURKEY POINT BONDING: County commissioners have unanimously approved $350 million in bonding under a Miami-Dade County Industrial Revenue Authority loan to Florida Power & Light Co. so that it can build a municipal sewage plant at its Turkey Point Clean Energy Center in Homestead. The plant will treat up to 15 million gallons of reclaimed water from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department that will then be used in FPL’s natural gas plant cooling towers. The collaboration between FPL and the county facilitates county compliance with the Ocean Outfall Statute, which requires the county’s wastewater utility to beneficially reuse up to 60% of its wastewater by 2025. The county commission in 2020 approved the agreement for reclaimed water processing, treatment and use at FPL’s Turkey Point complex. Texas water fund to improve state water supply I know you know what we did. Texans overwhelmingly voted to support the billion-dollar allocation for water and wastewater infrastructure made possible by @Txlege in 2023. It was the most important session for water in many, many years. Then again, I don’t know anyone who voted against this smart policy. Do you? The meeting of Army Chief General Asim Munir with international investors is highly unlikely to attract any significant foreign investment. General Asim previously claimed he would secure $25 billion in investments from Gulf countries but failed to bring in even 1% of that amount. Over the past decade, Pakistan's average annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has barely reached $2 billion. For international investors, meetings with figures like General Asim Munir or Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif hold little practical value. Investors carefully select countries for investment based on several criteria: economic factors such as growth, inflation, and stability; governmental factors including corruption, policies, and political stability; social factors like education and infrastructure; and legal factors such as property rights, contract enforcement, and regulatory fairness. Every four years, the EPA conducts a Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey and Assessment to determine the financial needs of the nation’s drinking water infrastructure and guide the Agency’s distribution of funding to states through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. In our new audit, we aim to determine whether the design and execution of the Agency’s most recent DWINSA, published earlier this year, were appropriate to create accurate allocations of infrastructure funds based on the lead-service-line-replacement needs in each state.
