Presenting the second of the four solutions of the #FCDI's project research activity: Hyper Connected ATM precursor! The main ambition of this solution is to show the feasibility of using cabin non-safety air-ground links as a complement to aeronautical safety links, to support safe and regular flight communications. The Hyper Connected Air Traffic Management (#ATM) will leverage commercial radio infrastructure already deployed for passengers' in-flight connectivity, for additional capacity and thereby offering a mitigation to the VHF Data Link (#VDL) Mode 2 current congestion. Validation exercises will take place in a representative environment. This solution will provide inputs to standardisation and policy makers, based on the disruptive approach that public links “as they are” could play a role in the future infrastructure for supporting safety-related communications.
