It is a great vote of confidence in an airport when the world's biggest airline decides to return for the first time in 5 years. Delta will operate a Boeing 767 flying daily from JFK to Shannon which will potentially bring 3,024 passengers a week into Ireland. This highly anticipated service is likely to bring in an extra 46,000 this summer alone. The increased connectivity to the United States heralds new opportunities for tourism based businesses all along the West Coast of Ireland. The success of the Wild Atlantic Way has once again made Shannon an attractive destination for large operators. The eventual introduction of newer and smaller transatlantic capable aircraft such as the Airbus A321 XLR and Boeing 737 Max 10 should see other population centres apart from Boston, New York and Chicago being served by direct flights to Shannon. Things are looking good. Last year almost 2 million passengers used the airport and it has the advantage of offering United States border pre-clearance just like Dublin Airport. From Hillwalk Tours point of view an extra link between such a connected airport hub like JFK and the West of Ireland opens up easier access for potential customers right across the United States. More than 90 airlines operate out of JFK serving over 193 destinations. It is now simpler and quicker to get to some of our top tours than ever before. First class is disappearing in air travel. The amount of complimentary first class upgrades I’ve received over the years alone told me that—but it’s also officially disappearing with many airlines, including American. Could “premium economy” be the way of the future? I think so. Unlike modern first class, average americans can afford these types of seats, so more passengers are happy. They also come with many of the amenities of first class, and airlines fill their seats while still seeing premium earnings on many of the seats. Delta Air Lines’ customers flying from North America will be able to fly on EL AL nonstop from New York-JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale to Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, EL AL’s code will be added to Delta's non-stop Tel Aviv flights (once restored), as well as up to 280 same-day connections via Delta’s U.S. gateways in New York-JFK, Boston, and Los Angeles to destinations including Atlanta, Washington DC, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Dallas, and Toronto.
