Architecture and Engineering, bring important things to the table, and makes the whole much more than the sum of its parts. Are you more of an Engineer or an Architect or are you both? How much time are you allowed to spend “thinking” rather than “doing”? If you were given the space to think more, would you be better at your job? How many Architects does it take to change a light bulb?

Tough question for all you architects & engineers. Who are you ultimately responsible to? The public or your clients? If our primary responsibility to the public it means: - Telling our clients what carbon limits should be met - Requiring minimum energy performance for buildings - Publishing carbon statistics for new buildings Do we have this the wrong way? What do you think? _______________________ If you like my content give me a follow and hit the bell. I post Monday - Saturday @ 6:15am PST. #architecture #carbon #engineering #design

Especially with new construction, there’s significant value to be found in hiring an architect you know you can trust from start to finish. A well-known or even award-winning architect will almost always save you money on your total costs long-term. Wondering how? Here are the top 4 ways that a great architect is worth the extra cost. ▸ https://lttr.ai/APqPZ

I've worked with a lot of engineers. The bad ones: - Assume coordination will just happen - Give no warning of major design updates - Copy-paste systems from their last project - Show no initiative The good ones: - Provide proactive solutions - Flag potential coordination issues - Suggest better ways of doing things - Show initiative Engineers are critical to the design of buildings, and we architects NEED you to be proactive experts in your field. Of course, architecture is much more complex than a good vs bad comparison, but these are critical factors in selecting an engineer to work with. _______________________ If you like my content give me a follow and hit the bell. Leadership in architecture involves more than just aesthetic choices; this entails setting the tone for a greener future. Architects must demand change not only in our own practice, but throughout the industry. Education is of utmost importance, empowering others to adopt an environmentally conscious approach. #archtecture #sustainability #carbonfootprint

The carbon footprint of the construction sector extends far beyond the drafting tables of architects; it is a collective responsibility that implicates all stakeholders. While architects play a pivotal role in shaping 'sustainable' designs, the realization of environmentally conscious structures requires a seamless collaboration among builders, developers, suppliers, and policymakers. Material choices, construction methods, and project management significantly influence carbon emissions. Developers must prioritize sustainable practices, suppliers must provide eco-friendly materials, and policymakers must incentivize green initiatives. A holistic commitment to reducing the construction sector's environmental impact demands a united front, where each stakeholder bears the weight of accountability and actively contributes to a more sustainable built environment.
