Broken pencils. Wadded up homework assignments. Books, crayons … and is that a chewed piece of gum? Or is that something much worse? Around this time every year, our students manage to cram all sorts of detritus into their backpacks each day, only to bring it home to play the worst game of “Guess what this is” when they get home. Too often we forget: Some of those students might be going back to school with no backpack at all. It’s why we’re proud each year to take part in Denver United Church’s annual backpack drive. Families who could use help giving their young students needed tools for learning get help from their communities to hit the ground reading when they report back to their classrooms. There are dozens of similar events around the metro area (just a few examples Denver Public Schools Foundation, Mile High United Way, and Kenzi's Causes). We’re thankful for the volunteers, donations, and students so they can begin each year with the tools for success. The donations aren’t just help; they’re also investments in our community so that tomorrow’s leaders can successfully learn today. https://conta.cc/4cyHp6g

Keep things running smoothly with these simple organization tips: Create a Homework Station: Designate a quiet, clutter-free space with all the essentials – pencils, paper, and a good lamp. Set Up a Command Center: Use a wall calendar, whiteboard, or a digital app to track schedules, assignments, and extracurricular activities. Declutter and Donate: Clear out old clothes and school supplies to make room for the new. It's a great way to teach kids about giving back! Label Everything: From lunchboxes to backpacks, labeling helps keep track of belongings and minimizes morning chaos. It’s always a good time to support #teachers, but especially during back-to-school season as they gather supplies for the year ahead – often out of their own pockets. Paper and Packaging Board has some great tips on how to lend support through donations of items like #paper and pencils, and supply drives to replenish stocks throughout the year: https://okt.to/AUHJNd

Imagine showing up to a new job and your office has zero supplies. There are no writing utensils, printer paper, or anything else you may need to do your job. Additionally, you don't have the budget to buy those missing supplies. Many teachers are experiencing this reality as they step into their classrooms this summer. So, what do you do? Most teachers fix the problem from their own pockets. Teachers provide their students basic supplies to learn, comfortable places to sit, engaging books, and even new technology. Help educators create an engaging classroom where every student has what they need by making a donation to AdoptAClassroom.org today: https://lnkd.in/gx5k4hSZ #adoptaclassroom #teachers
