Why I want everyone in my company to watch the movie ‘Air’ It’s a movie about the greatest business contract of all time, crafted by a mom who refused to accept no as an answer. And it’s truly the ultimate sales handbook. Michael Jordan was a rookie and had not yet stepped foot in the NBA. Michael's mom knew his worth. Sonny Vaccaro, a sports marketing executive, knew his worth. But the world didn't know it yet. And still, Nike put everything on the line to close this iconic deal. At its core, it’s the story of being a visionary. It's about seeing what others don’t see yet and about taking calculated risks to make things happen. But it is also about a terrific sales playbook. It’s a must-watch for anyone trying to move the needle in their business (or the world!) My four biggest takeaways: The preparation that goes into making a deal. Never wing it. 2. Sell the dream. Get others to visualize the big prize. 3. It truly takes a team. No single person could have made this happen alone. 4. Be bold. It will pay off. I could go on, but please watch it and tell me your biggest takeaway. Michael, I would also put in a good word for Phil Knight's memoir about founding Nike, "Shoe Dog". Inciteful, inspiring, and just plain fun!
