SEMI Americas (SEMICONDUCTOR West 24) SF event did not dissapoint! With 10k+ attendees, the connections and parallels to #digitalinfrastructure market are unmistakeable! Above said, it was humbling and exciting to enter a trade show knowing less than 10 attendees/Exhibitors. Very much the contrast to my usual industry event experience, where I usually know 100’s/thousands of the attendees! Not unusual if your in a business for 40+ years! Saw a few old friends and met many new friends! I’ve been saying for 4+ years that our business and #infrastructure requirements (#power & #cooling) can be directly traced to the Silicon & Chips and their TDPs and Performance! Proud that we/Vertiv saw this early! It’s a big reason we are enjoying the success we’ve earned and are enjoying today! And we’re just getting started! Here’s some highlights/themes. Sound familiar? Significant investments are being made, with $225 billion in combined public and private funds committed to the industry. This includes 104 planned fab investments through 2027, with the U.S. and Taiwan leading the way. Sustainability: A major focus was on reducing the environmental impact of semiconductor manufacturing. Topics included advancements in energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and water conservation. Technological Advancements: The event showcased innovations in AI, 5G, and quantum computing, emphasizing the need for efficient and sustainable semiconductor solutions. Supply Chain Resilience: Addressing supply chain challenges and enhancing resilience were critical topics, with discussions on regulatory compliance and overcoming raw material and labor shortages. Workforce Development: The importance of developing a skilled workforce to support the growing semiconductor industry was highlighted, with initiatives to attract and train new talent. These topics underscore the industry’s commitment to growth, sustainability, and innovation. We are dependent on each other! Our challenges and our opportuinies are completely aligned! It’s clear to me that the capabilities that have made Vertiv the Global #infrastructure enabler/manufacturer leader, have us poised to play a major role in #semiconductor/Fab #infrastructure enablement! Fab support is a great opportunity for us and our Partners! And for the Fabs! Saw some great presentations from our NVIDIA Partners (John Hu & Jerry Chen. They Rocked it! Met some old friends and made many New! Including from Intel Corporation, Exyte and AMAX. Found an awesome Chinese Restaurant (Fang) right across from Moscone! Dined with our AMAX Brothers. Don’t think it’s closed or abandoned if it looks boarded up (see pic). Bad Gov’t policies/crime require they do that, every night (😤)! We all agreed! “Best Chinese Food Ever!” Kathy Fang and her Dad (Peter) Rock! Let Peter order for you! Great event!
