Recognizing the challenges of Dyspraxia in early childhood development:? Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), is a neurological condition impacting an individual's ability to plan and execute coordinated movements. Despite its challenges with motor skills and daily tasks, dyspraxia doesn't correlate with intelligence; many individuals with it have average or above-average cognitive abilities. Recognizing signs of dyspraxia can help identify and address it early. Some common symptoms include poor balance, posture, and hand-eye coordination, along with fatigue, clumsiness, and challenges in speech and perception. Children with dyspraxia might struggle with physical activities like biking or swimming and exhibit repetitive behaviors or difficulty recalling information. At Kapiti Neuro Therapy, we specialize in supporting individuals with dyspraxia through tailored motor movement therapy sessions. Our goal is to empower your child to overcome challenges and thrive. If you suspect your child may have dyspraxia, reach out to us for a client introductory meeting to discuss how we can assist. For more information, visit our website at www.neurotherapy.nz. Let's work together to support your child's development and well-being!

Neurodiversity is a concept that recognizes and appreciates the diversity of neurological differences in individuals, particularly in terms of conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. We believe that neurological differences are natural variations of the human brain, rather than defects or disorders that need to be corrected. Neurodiversity emphasizes the value of diverse ways of thinking and functioning, considering that individuals with neurodivergent traits contribute unique perspectives and skills to society. This challenges the traditional medical model that pathologizes and stigmatizes neurodivergent conditions. Join us on May 10th for a webinar on "Navigating Neurodiversity in the Treatment of Anxiety" with guest speaker Dr. Lindsey Knott. Despite the robust literature for the treatment of anxiety, ADHD, and Autism, training and resources are limited on the convergence of these conditions. This presentation will focus on the challenges in assessment, conceptualization, and treatment of neurodivergent populations with clinical anxiety. Discussion will include treatment complexities related to differences in communication, sensory sensitivities, and potentially confusing symptom overlap. Emphasizing the need for tailored interventions, this presentation offers suggestions and resources for adapting therapeutic approaches to accommodate neurodiverse individuals with anxiety. Trauma Invalidating neurodivergent issues at whatever age is detrimental and for children young people can lead to life long trauma, attendance issues and self worth issues. Pain matters, physical health matters, hypermobility matters. This Paper now has 6 citations and nearly 17000 views! https://lnkd.in/eBw7BAF6 The topical review was based on current evidence at the time and is key for autistic, ADHD, dyspraxic Tourettes CYP but might be dyslexic, dyscalculics as well ie neurodivergence. It's why neurodivergence is key language. Our connective tissues plus more are different. The evidence based science is evolving and the terminology has changed but symptomatic hypermobility is key. This is why we are not legislating for EDS as we cover all ages and very rarely will children and young people be given an EDS diagnosis. We know this and are authentic as userled symptomatic hypermobility and neurodivergent charity www.sedsconnective.org Add in the issues of articulating this and communicating this along with differences in interoception then it is no wonder there is so much discrepancy in attainment. Also for education staff or advisers, researchers and policy makers all the supports and strategies in the world will not ever be fully successful if the physical health needs are not included. This will lead to staff feeling they have let down the children. The children even more so feel failures for not improving, due to actual physical health issues. For policy makers note this is not effective let alone equitable use of monies or funds. We are not a charity for on area. We do not believe in silos, for example only medical , social or educational. We believe in joining these up Autism, Dyspraxia, ADHD and TS plus more. #commissioners #researchers #educators #teachers #SENCo #SEND #MP #neurodivergence #neurodivergent #Autistic #ADHD #AuDHD #Dyspraxic #Dyscalculic #APD #Dyspraxic #health #diagnosis #pain #Trauma #DiagnosticallyOvershadowed #hypermobility #pgHSD #pgJH #EDS #HSD
