WOW, Never thought I'd get here! August 2024 and 10 months out of work! I could be homeless by October, as savings are gone and discussions have started with my Bank already! I need a full-time role by September 2024, to stop the bleeding! {NOTE: commercially I can't look at fractional or contract work due to stability.} I'm sick of getting to the final few to be told I'm: * Too Experienced * Too Dynamic * Too Talkative * Too eCommerce focused * Would get bored in the role * Would leave quickly after joining for something better * Hiring manager being nervous of my experience * Too Expensive BUT told - Your a really great guy, with huge experience and lots to give, we loved you but decided to go with the other person. I'm happy to be locked in for 12 months contractually and would accept a 3 month notice period on top, to give any employer confidence that I won't leave and I have no issues with Global roles and am happy to travel. I don't care about role seniority, industry or technology as I'm hugely broad, deep and a quick learner. I have a Base salary requirement to protect my home {Mortgage and spiralling utilities) and family, otherwise am negotiable on the surrounding packages. Well my friends, I have officially hit 5 months of unemployment. It feels like 5 years at this point. It's easy to spiral into a dark place, and trust me, I've been there more than once. But today, I want to focus on the positives of unemployment. The big one is more time with my family. My boys will only be 4 & 1 once and for a short time. I am trying to savor every moment, especially since it is likely I'll be working a hybrid schedule when I finally do work. I have always worked remote since before I was even pregnant with my oldest so this will be a difficult transition. We are doing more play dates and fun things. It's been rather enjoyable! The second best part is I have gotten more sleep! Aside from getting my kiddo up for school, I have actually gotten more sleep and some much needed me time. One on one time with yourself is underrated and so important. Please, please make sure you are getting time to yourself -even if it is only an hour. This is especially important if you have kids. Thirdly, I actually have time to work on myself! I've been trying new recipes (baking) and we have been eating at home more. I also have the opportunity to learn new things! I've been utilizing LinkedIn Learnings and soaking in all the knowledge I can. Even just doing 10 min at a time is better than zero. and lastly, I have been researching up a storm about non-profits. I've been inspired and have an idea that I would like to make reality! How about you? What positives have come from unemployment? **I am looking for a 100% remote or hybrid role at this time. I am hoping to get into the finance world as a financial analyst or finance professional. I am also open to insurance underwriting. My background is mainly mortgage but the skills I have perfected are 100% transferrable. Please check out my resume and profile! Feeling stuck in a career that no longer serves you? I've been there. I felt this firsthand when I realized I needed to pivot from being a data analyst to a career in tech sales. Letting go of all those years I'd invested in my old path was scary. But here's what I learned: Your past does not dictate your future. The longer I stayed in a job that didn’t align with my strengths and passions, the more time I wasted that could be spent building a fulfilling career elsewhere. So, how did I overcome the sunk cost fallacy? - Recognized I was climbing the wrong hill. If you dread work and your skills aren't being utilized, you need a change. - I became willing to take a short-term step back to move forward. I took a pay cut to start over in sales. But that temporary sacrifice led to long-term gains. - I sought guidance from others who had successfully pivoted. Those people can help you navigate the transition. - I thought of my career as a marathon. I decided not to let sunk costs hold me back from a path that truly excites and fulfills me. When I switched to sales and became a loan officer, I thrived and quickly surpassed my old salary. More importantly, I discovered a career I was passionate about that played to my strengths. The next pivot into tech sales required starting at the bottom again! But by then, I knew the power of letting go of sunk costs to pursue the right path forward. Those scary leaps were the best moves I ever made. They aligned my work with my passions. I was more successful and fulfilled than I ever could have been if I had stayed put. Don't let fear hold you back. Start fresh and go after what truly excites you!

Are you scared of changing careers and taking a pay cut? I've been there. Let me tell you how betting on myself with a risky career move paid off big time… I used to be a financial analyst making decent money. Had the high-rise office, wore the suit, and impressed my buddies. But I was miserable. Hated being chained to a spreadsheet all day. My parents knew the real me. Told me to chase what I loved - connecting with people. So I took a sales job as a loan officer. Huge step back on paper. Not only did I take a fat pay cut, but the gig wasn't even guaranteed unless I passed the loan officer exam. Failed it the first time. They said, "Fail again, you're fired." Talk about pressure! But I passed the exam the 2nd time and here's the thing… Even though I was making way less money, I loved the work! Talking to customers all day, I was in my element. Energized. And that passion fueled my success. Fast forward three years. I went from making a "measly" $60k to pulling in $220,000 as a sales exec. Just by doing what lit me up inside! The lesson? Don't be scared to take a step back in your career if it aligns with what you love. Bet on yourself. Short-term sacrifice can lead to a massive long-term payoff.

Because we all need to be reminded from time to time. 🙌 Your job is out there Keep networking and applying. Keep reminding people you need a new higher paying job. I was without a job for almost a year until I told ONE person. He called his friend, a hiring manager, I had a job within 3 weeks. 🙌 Delayed is not denied. Follow up on "not right nows", "not in the budgets", "not ready yets". People are getting unused vacay payout, holiday gifts, and end of year bonuses. 💰💰💰 People are spending money. 🙌 You are going to land bigger clients Reach out to those "big deal" potential clients. Ask them to set up a call just to check in. Maybe they can hire you or you can send them a referral. Add value & you have another reason to follow up. And most importantly, no matter how 'big' or important something may seem : if it's not for you it's just not for you. Believe in bigger and better. It'll happen for you.

Day 139 of unemployment. To say it's been a rocky journey is an understatement. Laid off November 1 right before the holidays. Oldest had just turned 2, youngest was 5 months, I had been back from mat leave less than 2 months. Get through the holidays (including having sinus surgery a week before Christmas) and Q4 and really start grinding with applications and interviews. Get ghosted by multiple companies after making it to final round interviews. Get auto declined from positions I'm overqualified for and get the bot email almost immediately after applying. Get my hopes up more than once that a company is the perfect fit for me. Keeping my head up that the next great thing is right around the corner! So many of us are still in this position nearly 5 months after half the company was laid off. Countless others elsewhere are in the same position. I'm looking for my next long term role. I'm an incredibly hard worker. Uber motivated. Extremely organized and thorough. Great teammate. Background is in customer service and people management, most recently post-MBA, working as a stop loss underwriter for 4 years. Looking to stay in the health/insurance/stop loss/PEO realm anywhere from customer success to underwriter. Just looking for a chance to prove myself 💪 #opentowork #healthtech #underwriter #motivated

I returned to my old job. After 3 months plus on my own bill, looking for renewed interest just didn't work. Thankfully I was able to renegotiate a position back with a prior employer a few months into 2024. I didn't realize how hard it is to hire talent and experience when younger peers are there in front. To be honest...my interviews really weren't that productive. My resume exclaimed contained to much experience...don't know what to say about that. I'm trying to be easy going to. I check though on those i applied to...the reflective on experience. From several after my failed interviewing i discovered...reduced sales hours, higher turn out and customer/employer complaints, poor customer experience due to lack of qualitive experience and item knowledge, some places victimized by high stagnant commitment costs...that's like sitting on gold but it's not, because it's not gold, but something you must sell to get a return on it's value. My lease is through the roof, it's like living overseas, small places and high prices without the economic value wage support to assist in managing these aggressive economic times. Knowledge is wary...be smart about options towards coming years after 2024.

What you thought was impossible before becomes the new standard for the future. 🚀 Record breaking week for us with 7 jobs offers, 5 accepted and 2 pending (to put that in FS terms, it’s all written, not banked😬!)…. All nicely split across the Amazing Delivery Team! 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽 As a small business owner, breaking records is not about the money (although given the last 12 months it’s always gonna help you sleep a bit better, I’m not deluded enough to think money isn’t important 😊!)… It’s about having the capacity to do something you’ve never done before, about knowing that you’re building something that works, having a team that is moving in the right direction, and a happy client base! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Feels good today… I know they’ll be headaches tomorrow, and we’ve come off of big losses to get some decent wins, but I know we’re doing the right thing, and more importantly, when it pays off… celebrate you wins! My husband starts 2024 without a job. Pretty shitty thing for a business to do at Christmas, but there we go. Don’t EVER tell me all businesses care about their employees. They only care about numbers and the bottom line. Sorry I digress. Now normally December would have been a really difficult and stressful month for us, but a few months ago, I started a side hustle. A 2nd income to help our family. Now I know some people hear “side-hustle” and think it’s a dirty word, but let me tell you, you need to get over that. If you’re getting hung up on the word, you’re just looking for excuses. Sorry I digress again. Anyway, this little ‘side hustle’ which I started at the tender age of 51 with no experience or skills, made me $7,330 in just 6 DAYS in December. And it’s all thanks to some training and mentorship I invested in. Now I don’t mean to brag. I’m just showing you that there are good opportunities if you don’t get caught up on the negative thoughts around the term ‘side-hustle’ and are open to them. Did we need to worry about Christmas, the next few months, paying the mortgage, the bills? Thankfully no. If I hadn't started, I probably wouldn't be able to say that if I'm honest.
