Hospitality Mgmt. Institute, affiliating bodies and Government must think now to incorporate minors in bachelor degree in Hospitality Management - This is 5th year in a row that we are facing low enrolment in Hospitality Management programme being offered by Institute affiliated to NCHMCT,state universities etc. and now time has come to make radical changes in structure of Curriculum to diversify the students placement in other services sector establishment along with Hotels . In my opinion just after 2nd year exam students should decide the area of minor degree along with Major in Hospitality Management and students should go for 6 weeks 2nd internship during summer vacation in the area of minor degree like - - Quick Service Restaurant Operation &Mgmt. - Retail operation & Management - Hospitalty Consulting - Hospitality Marketing - Artificial Intelligence for Hospitality Industry These minor will strengthen their base in these specific area in semester 5 and Semester 6 , thus will help them to get better placement in these industries/ areas . These minors should be taught by subject expert online or offline in coordination with respective trade Associations and with requisite exposure of area they can explore placement in above mentioned fields and Hotels should also know and realise that if they don’t recognise and respect young talent then they are the one who will loose the trained professionals to other sectors . Institutes and Universities must undergo structural change in curriculum in place of cosmetic change without fearing about existing infrastructure, faculty ,operational issues as future of students are more important than

Insightful article by John Lohr As the General Manager of dusitD2 Samyan Bangkok, I've had the pleasure of meeting numerous students eager to embark on their journey in the hospitality industry. While there is often a high degree of uncertainty about what they want to become in the future, I always emphasize that there are multiple options to reach their goals. Especially at such an early stage in their career, they have plenty of time to explore what path they prefer - from the F&B side to the room division, Sales, or Finance... there is no wrong choice. It's about instilling a foundation of essential soft skills that are invaluable in any profession. From communication to leadership, adaptability to problem-solving, the hospitality industry fosters a holistic skill set crucial for personal and professional growth. As students explore various departments and gain hands-on experience through internships, they not only learn the intricacies of hospitality but also develop a mindset primed for success in any field. Let's prepare them for a journey filled with opportunities and success! 🚀 #HospitalityIndustry #ProfessionalSuccess #Dusit #learning
I’m delighted to share the inaugural edition of the Dusit Thani College Insights Blog that will feature both on our site and The Bangkok Insights. The first article is “Mom and Dad: Don’t let you kids study hospitality management unless..” seems like a strange thing for the largest and first hospitality school in Thailand to write but we have our reasons 😉. Have a quick read to find out more. #DTCdidIT #hospitalitymanagement https://lnkd.in/guNAQjun (Thai) https://lnkd.in/gkk5gi5F

Joined up tech rules in hospitality. Have your staff add value, get creative and stop doing mundane tasks
I find tradition deeply uncomfortable. So many industries are governed by the ‘legacy’ way of doing things - This is especially true in hospitality. Everyone goes to the same hotel schools, Everyone reads and learns the same theory, Everyone applies to the same large chains for internships… And then, they graduate, start working, and never really learn anything else other than the ‘traditional’ way of doing things. These are the same group of people that eventually lead hotels, and sometimes even hotel groups. How boring 😴 This is why you have so many ‘legacy’ hotel brands that are slowly dying. What I love about younger generations is that experience trumps tradition - They don’t care if there's a swan-shaped towel on the bed, Or if you follow a scripted check-in procedure - What matters is the experience, and how far you can exceed their expectations. This is why we prioritise ▶️ Having the best vibe due to our unmatched music legacy ▶️ Curating the tastiest menus at our dining concepts ▶️ Crafting the most sensational cocktails across our bars ▶️ Offering best-in-class spa treatments, facilities and products ▶️ Making room for fun with pool tables, virtual golf and karaoke In my opinion... Tradition can take a seat, while we hit the dance floor and blaze the trail for a new era of hospitality 😉 #DiscoverFIVE #Hospitality #Luxury

I like it because it can put a smile on someone's face." Something nobody knows about him? "When I was a small child, my father emigrated to Switzerland. When I went on holiday to Switzerland for the first time at the age of 10, I was so fascinated that I absolutely wanted to live here. A year later, there were three of us here." 🇨🇭 Is your desk tidy or rather chaotic? "Rather chaotic." When I'm in a slump at work, it always helps me to "leave my desk for a moment and go outside to reorganise my thoughts." 💬 What can't be missing at work? 🤗 a good team 💻 good equipment (especially in IT) 💭 as few distractions as possible My colleagues are the best because "We always help each other and even put our own priorities aside when a colleague needs help." 😊 #revenuemanagement #yieldmanagement #hospitality #hospitalityindustry #hotelindustry #team

International Hospitality Leader | 15 Years' Experience | Service Excellence Advocate | Passionate About Making Every Customer Experience Unforgettable
It's easy to look sharp when you haven't done any work… Right? But when I look at myself in this selfie 📸 Which was taken 12 years ago by the way I can clearly see how tired I was on that day! Back then, I had just finished my MBA in Hotel Business Management And I was doing my internship as a Guest Experience Executive In one of the best hotels in Madrid. The reason why I wanted to share this with you today Is because we all (including myself) Tend to 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 show the best part of ourselves: ↳ The pictures where we look good ↳ Talk about how successful we are ↳ Our popularity and social attraction However, many times we are not aware of the truth Because those things are only one side of the coin… And, the reality is that behind all those: Beautiful pictures, successful stories, and popularity… There is so much more that people don't see! 💡 So, while I was browsing through my phone this morning… And saw myself in this image of myself After a very long day at work Not looking that fresh or sharp anymore… I still decided to go ahead and share it with all of you! Do you want to know why? 💭 Because, even if you won't be able to tell… On this day, I was feeling so 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 and 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 of myself! For having landed an internship in the hotel I wanted And in a department I really felt passionate about 🌟 So please, never feel shy to show both sides of you! Because for me… Those days and feelings were truly priceless. #hospitality #selfawareness #serviceexcellence #customerexperience

Let me tell you one thing for sure... your hard work and dedication will pay off in ways you can’t even imagine. During my time at training at Hyatt Regency I was constantly juggling internship new city hustles of everyday There were days when I doubted if all effort was worth it. One evening, while working a particularly busy shift at a hotel, → I encountered a guest who was visibly stressed from a long day of travel. → I took the extra time to ensure their check-in was smooth, and provided a list of local dining spots. The next morning, the guest found me and thanked me personally, saying my small gestures had made their stay unforgettable. ✨️🥹That interaction made all the long hours and hard work worth it. Here’s some valuable data you should consider: 📌 According to recent industry reports, 86% of customers are willing to pay more for a better experience. → Your attention to detail can directly impact a hotel’s success. Ps. What is your unforgettable memories of training days ? #hotelmanagement #hoteliers #linkedinforcreators

CEO - Efcee Hotels | Seasoned Hotelier & Businessman | Building Brands & Networks | Director, SO Solutions NZL Pvt Ltd | Global Hospitality Leader
Despite not attending college Eric Danziger went from carrying bags for guests to becoming CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world's biggest hotel chain! It's stories like these that make many question: Which matters more in the hospitality industry, education or experience? The truth is, both play crucial roles at different career stages. Let me break it down: 1) Early Career: Education is the golden ticket - A diploma from a top hotel school can be your foot in the door for prestigious programs like Hilton's Elevator Program for future GMs. - But classroom learning alone isn't enough - internships to apply that knowledge are equally vital. The network effect: - Beyond academics, hospitality schools provide an invaluable global alumni network. Top hotel school grads can be found across the world's hospitality hubs. - Your initial degree may just be the beginning - continuing education to upskill will likely be essential as the industry evolves. 2) Mid Career: Experience reigns supreme - As you climb the corporate ladder, experience trumps education. For a regional VP role, your recent track record matters more than your degree. - At the top, it's about quantifiable accomplishments and developing a reputation through relentless networking. So while education lays the foundation, experience becomes the real difference-maker. But both components are integral parts of a hotelier's journey from dish room to boardroom! What's been more important in your career - education or experience? Share your insights below! #hospitality #Efceehotels #education #experience
