Isn't worth it though at the risk of accuracy, quantization can get you speed but really hurt the accuracy

Time to switching to log scale to avoid making the competition too hard to see?

It would be wise to increase your limits as you improve the system performance. It is now easier for your users to hit the limits, and for you the hardware utilization should decrease through performance gains.
