Anthony James, Managing Partner at Grosvenor Food & AgTech, took the opportunity to interview Kerryann Kocher, the CEO of Vytelle, one of our portfolio companies.
Kerryann explained how the business is helping farmers drive a more sustainable production of meat and milk, balancing a growing global demand for protein, reducing the industry’s impact on the planet – especially in relation to greenhouse gas emissions, and doing so in a way that enables producers to be profitable.
Grosvenor first invested in Vytelle in 2018 and has continued to support the business throughout its growth. Find out more about how Vytelle is scaling up its operation and its future ambitions.
Say, hello, I'm I'm Anthony James, one of the managing partners of Grovenor Food and Agtech. And today I'm joined by Kerry Anne Coker, who is CEO of Vitelli, which is a business within our portfolio, which supports beef and dairy and helps with the resource efficiency. So Kerrianne, welcome. Thank you. Grovenor has been an investor with Vitalis. Since 2018, it's been quite a journey. I wanted to take advantage of your time here in London to update our LinkedIn followers on one of our portfolio companies, and I wanted to do that by asking you 3 simple questions. The first one, perhaps you could let us know what by Kelly does and the problem that we're trying to solve. We're a precision livestock company that is focused on driving more sustainable production of meat and milk. And as we think about the global cattle industry, we see what we call the triple challenge ahead of US1. We know that there's a demand for protein. We know that we need to produce that protein in a more sustainable way and we know we need to do it in a way that producers can make money. And so by telling specifically is set out to solve that challenge with our genetic services that we. Offer both beef and dairy customers and those genetic services are really twofold. 1 is really being a data creator and identifying the elite animals of the herd using our phenotype data capture system and then reproducing them faster using in vitro fertilization. So the second question, Carianne, we live in a challenging time for our environment and and and the food industry then beef in particular gets mentioned a lot for greenhouse gas emissions and so on. How can vitally help the big farmer? Great, great question. We think about solutions that drive more sustainable meat and milk. We look at genetic progress being a permanent and compounding solution to this challenge. And and by Telly, we specifically are able to measure feed intake, one of the most important traits associated with cattle production, not only from a cost perspective, but also a direct correlation to methane output when we have more efficient animals. We're able to reduce that methane output per animal. Thank you, Terry. And my final question, can you give us a sense of the scale of Italy and the ambition looking forward? We're really pleased to be able to share that we are the fastest growing in vitro fertilization company in the world, serving customers in 23 different countries with 17 IVF labs and eight in the United States with 125 team members, making this possible to serve our customers all around the world.
With two weeks left of this quarter, these bold founders keep their heads down as they roll up their sleeves to build 🛠 , expand 📊 , and create partnerships 🤝 to feed billions sustainably now and in the future.
