Ophthopedia Update:Optic Disc Melanocytoma: Apparent Shrinkage after Posterior Vitreous Detachment: A 49-year-old woman was diagnosed with a stable right optic disc melanocytoma, (A) measuring 4.2 × 3.8 mm on fundus imaging on annual serial photos for 3 years. B, Following a posterior vitreous detachment at the most recent visit, the inferior portion of the melanocytoma that was attached to the posterior vitreous separated, apparently shrinking the original lesion size to 3.8 × 3.8 mm. There was no evidence of malignant transformation. Although melanocytomas can shed pigment into the vitreous (i.e., vitreous seeds), this report documents a rare instance of optic disc melanocytoma separation and attachment to the vitreous. #Ophthalmology #ophthotwitter #eyecare

Ophthopedia Update:Ocular Surface Fibroma of the Bulbar Conjunctiva: A 17-year-old boy presented with a painless, enlarging bulbar conjunctival lesion for 2 years. (A) Slit-lamp examination revealed a firm, pink papillomatous temporal lesion on the right eye measuring 7.01 × 1.09 mm. (B) The lesion was excised at the base, and histopathology showed spindle cells in dense fibrous substantia propria (scale bar = 500 μm). (C) Immunohistochemical staining of the spindle cells was diffusely positive for CD34 (scale bar = 50 μm), corresponding to a fibroblastic phenotype. #Ophthalmology #ophthotwitter #eyecare
