Disabled and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response was established in March 2017. James Anderson BCAv ( DEPHER ) have assisted directly and indirectly over 2 million people and families with our community services, a very proud achievement. Free #boilers plus free #plumbing and #heating services, supporting thousands of elderly and disabled people, saving many lives every year, since 2017. Then during the pandemic we suplied free #PPE to the #NHS and thousands of people, #doctors, care homes, #police and emergency services. Our free #gas, #electricity and #food support has been ongoing since 2020, to support thousands of families, in every #city, #town and hamlet of the UK. Funeral support during the #pandemic, supporting 687 families who lost love ones. Our continuing terminal illness services, that has supported thousands facing terrible situations since 2017. Supporting members of the armed forces with #voluntary and #employment initiatives when they leave service, to #apprentices and adult training. Times are hard for everyone, since the #pandemic and now the cost of living crisis, and whatever the future holds. We do our best, we will always do our best, we will work hard for you all until our last is spent, we are here for you all, Depher CIC is your family, not by blood but by #humanity. All this is supplied without any support, funding or resources from the #government, #councils or #charities. In fact, all the above approaches us to support them and their service users. We are self funded through paid work and profits plus donations from the public. An Open Letter to the Community from Our Technical Director 🤝 As a volunteer firefighter with the Paraparaumu Fire Brigade, I have decided that from now on, Kiwinove IT Solutions will donate a portion of the profits from all our managed services to the local volunteer fire brigade in the areas where our customers are headquartered. Don't worry; we are not increasing prices to cover this decision. We are taking this money from our own pockets. Despite our prices already being the lowest in the market, we are also freezing them to help our customers navigate this financial crisis. We will not adjust any of these prices until this crisis ends. We will not let you down. We are business partners, and our success depends on your success too. We have seen a massive drop in donations because of many factors, #CostOfLivingCrisis being just one factor, drop in paid work. We are at the moment paying out more than we are making on the plumbing and heating services, with wages, tax, vat, pension, national insurance, running costs etc. This may effect the food drive and delivery service, as the heating, gas and boilers are needed more during the colder months. Government to ban TENTS?! ⛺ The UK government wants to ban tent usage by the homeless. Home Secretary Suella Braverman says it discourages a "lifestyle choice". Homelessness charities strongly oppose the ban in a letter from 15 groups. They argue it will harm thousands, increase poverty, and cause preventable deaths. Supporters see it as improving community safety and wellbeing. Critics demand more empathy and housing benefits to address root causes. I obviously don't think sleeping in tents is the answer or should it be normal. However, if it was that or sleep in the rain, I'd choose the tent. The gov can do more. We've managed to house over 800 people so far just buy using the rent 2 rent strategy. My advice for anyone designing and refurbishing a property is put yourself in the end-users shoes. Understand them, think about their needs and how they live. And that’s is exactly what I am doing, taking part in the CEO Sleepout UK event tomorrow night, sleeping rough. Sunflower Homes provide safe spaces for those who need care and a home. We support those who are homeless and those who are living in unsuitable conditions find a warm, dry and safe environment to call their own. I’ve had the humbling experience to meet and speak to people who have been homeless at some point in their lives, it can literally happen to anyone. Some stats for you: 🏠 At least 271,000 people are homeless in England today, including 123,000 children 💔 Of these, 2,400 people are sleeping rough on any given night, 15,000 people are in hostels or supported accommodation and nearly 250,000 are living in temporary accommodation – most of whom are families 📈 The number of people living in temporary accommodation has risen by an alarming 74% in the last 10 years ❤️🩹Half of the respondents (51%) say that living in temporary accommodation has had a negative impact on their physical health 😔 Almost two-thirds of people (63%) say that it has had a negative impact on their mental health If you want to help, please donate here. Every person deserves a secure and safe place to call home. Jonathan is a tenant supported by St Petrocs. His story is a poignant reminder of how life can change in an instant, leading to unforeseen challenges such as homelessness. After the loss of his mother and subsequent eviction from their shared home, Jonathan found himself homeless. With the supportive network of our charity partners St Petrocs, Mustard Seed Property (MSP) provided him with more than just a roof over his head – we offered him a lifeline. “I now have an address so I can look for work and I have a safe home. It was a challenge sharing a house, but it’s the only answer when you have little hope of getting back into employment or housing.” Through our latest share offer, we aim to raise further investment to ensure more individuals like Jonathan in Cornwall can escape homelessness and reclaim their place in the community. No family should have to choose between heating their home or feeding their children in the UK in 2024. We know that the Household Support Fund has helped tens of thousands of unpaid carers are amongst the 3.8 million household who have been helped access essentials, receive advice, and support, and get practical help with things like furniture and white goods.
