Gaia died aged 25 years old in University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust . Her mother Dorit Young has done an investigation and says: “Gaia died aged 25 years in hospital and her death does not appear to conform to any recognised disease.” “I seek to identify the cause of death and to understand the mechanisms which in Gaia’s case were somehow catastrophically deranged beyond the usual presentation of disease with fatal consequence.” “Gaia’s illness was in two phases: a pre-event phase, then coning (the catastrophic event), and a post-event phase. The cause of Gaia’s catastrophic deterioration was the cause of her death.” “Gaia’s condition appears to have been an isolated, specific, and exclusive neuropathic process: an encephalopathy characterized by marked raised intracranial pressure and/or cerebral oedema.” “It was confined to the brain. It is striking that other body systems do not appear to have been involved. The severity of her brain pathology in the context of seemingly normal body function (various organs were not available for post-mortem because they were donated) seems difficult to explain.” “The clinical course can be described as catastrophic, fulminant, overwhelming” “The central inquiry is: how can such a fatal condition occur with such rapidity, confined only to the brain and yet have an unknown aetiology?” See the post-mortem report by Professor Sheaff which gives cause of death as follows: 1a. What are you doing for the women and men in your organization to remind them of the critical impact of heart disease on even those of us who are the most healthy? SHOW THEM YOU VALUE THEM DURING AMERICAN HEART MONTH in February. I am a lifetime vegetarian who has worked out 2x each day every day for 35 years. I never smoked, seldom drank and am referred to as “the healthiest of us all” by colleagues and friends. After open heart surgery last year, I am on a mission to help other high-performing women be among those who survive.   As a recent survivor of open heart surgery, a neuroscience coach for high-performers and keynote speaker my presentation, “High-Performance Through Self-Compassion,” is the perfect complement to Heart Month. Self-compassion is critical to maintaining high performance in both health and business. Women don’t have traditional male symptoms of heart disease, and the lack of identifiable patterns lead women to die from cardiac events at a frightening rate. Self-compassion led me to investigate suspicious symptoms, but many women are not as aware and, therefore, not as fortunate.   Did you know that more women die of heart disease than any other cause after the age 20? #brainhealth #americanheartmonth #survivors #ironheartathletes

This is known as Post-cardiac arrest brain injury (PCABI), and it's a major cause of death in resuscitated cardiac arrest patients. The heart's crucial role in supplying oxygen to the brain is so vital that even a moment's pause can lead to a condition called Cerebral Hypoxia. This happens when the brain doesn't receive enough oxygen. 🚨 It's a medical emergency that can arise from a variety of situations, including: Drowning Choking Suffocation Cardiac arrest Head injury Each of these can trigger acute episodes of hypoxia, causing a decline or even suppression of synaptic activity in numerous brain regions. Prolonged exposure can lead to neuronal cell loss and, ultimately, death.
