Performance management evaluates employees as a whole, while performance appraisal focuses on individual job performance. Performance management is a continuous process of setting goals, assessing progress, providing feedback, and improving employee performance, while performance appraisal is a periodic evaluation of an employee’s job performance against predetermined criteria.

So true. While HR strives to create a culture of continuous improvement and establish processes for upcoming milestones, it is crucial that management supports and provides the liberty to implement such policies. The focus often tends to be on the investment in individuals and their immediate productivity, rather than recognizing and leveraging their unique abilities to deliver tasks innovatively. These policies could enhance individual performance and foster new perspectives.

Outstanding thoughts!! But is it possible in all companies with any level of maturity in their leadership level? Or in most companies this is yet a "expectation versus reality"?

And when used with respect, kindness, adaptability, and objectivity both PM and PA can work well in conjunction with each other.
