We want to see living standards accelerate around the world, but we also want to reduce our impact on the planet. If we're going to succeed on both of these pursuits... how can we address the conflict between them? The humble household fridge is linked to a variety of development and human rights indicators. But it also has an environmental footprint. We need more efficient energy infrastructure, more efficient energy distribution and storage systems, and more efficient end-of-life care for appliances. Because it's not a question of if the world will add appliances to the energy ecosystem; it's a question of what, when and how. Beko Corporate's Right to Refrigeration Report is a rare example of industry self-reflection on #sustainability. Almost 2.2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water. Sustainable Development Goal 6, established by the UN General Assembly, aims for clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. It's not only businesses and communities that need to play a role in this vital goal, we can all help individually by remembering that every drop counts. Shorter showers, fewer baths and turning off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth, doing the dinner dishes, or cooking. Never pour pollutants down the drain or into the toilet. Protect nature. Help reduce flooding with natural solutions, such as planting a tree. Store rain water in barrels for use.
