We were very fortunate to get Bob Kneip and Nasir Zubairi as Speakers, which gave us their insights about their personal journeys as entrepreneurs and their view on the development of the Luxembourgish Tech sector. The interactive discussion that followed allowed guests to exchange their own perspectives and experiences, enriching the dialogue further. As we fondly look back on the ASEAN Startup Roundtable held at the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC) on January 29, 2024, we are filled with gratitude and excitement. The event brought together visionaries, thought leaders and enthusiasts name as Casper Sermsuksan 👻, Thibault Danjou, SEINGHENG HUL, Llewellan Vance from Huawei Singapore to delve into the multifaceted realm of "Building a Tech Startup Ecosystem in ASEAN." Our discussions unfolded passionately throughout the day, highlighting the intricacies of fostering a robust tech startup ecosystem. Diverse perspectives showcased a shared commitment to driving innovation-led growth in ASEAN. In the first session, we tackled the paradox of digital connectivity, emphasizing local innovation ecosystems and proposing policy recommendations for win-win public-private partnerships and Asian-wide collaboration in digital infrastructure. In the second session, we explored financial challenges, revealing scattered VC landscapes and innovative support models. The identified challenge is matching the right funding with the right startups. The third session addressed nurturing human capital in the ASEAN tech startup sector, outlining strategies for developing and retaining a skilled workforce. Commendable efforts from institutions emphasized comprehensive support systems for innovation. A special highlight of Jasmine Goh was introducing government officials to our upcoming Asia Innovate Hub Cofounder Pilot. The positive feedback received was both humbling and inspiring. There's a shared vision for a more integrated ASEAN startup landscape, and Cofounder Pilot may just be the catalyst! We acknowledge the immense potential of the ASEAN startup landscape, aiming for regional economic integration. Busy week, busy ecosystem #TechWeekinReview shows preparations, lot of activity, financing in search. ➡️bonapp.eco opened a 2-million-euro financing round to support its international expansion. The startup helps fighting food waste by connecting customers with food providers such as restaurants, cafes and shops offering discounted products which are nearing expiration date. The startup was recognized for its contribution and development as The Startup of the Year at the recent professional community event ANIS Romania Gala. ➡️The ecosystem is dominated by intense learning, sharing, networking which is also mirrored in busy angel investors agenda.
