Does one really still consider that a public relations manager is a fairy, who makes people and brands popular by magic tricks and maybe sometimes hard work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
Oh, that’s a naive point of view, much distributed especially in regions with a post-soviet mindset and the absence of transparent business culture.
Yeah, a PR manager has a lot of duties, stress, and unpredictable situations, so businesses should consider it, searching for a specialist. Having a lot of pressure, inflated expectations, and no support can be stressful and leads to burning out. That’s why it’s so important to communicate clearly, what the PR manager is and what they aren't.
Let's admit that they are not “fairy”, and have certain functions, duties, and responsibilities.
A public relations (PR) manager is a professional responsible for developing and maintaining a positive public image and reputation for an organization, individual, or brand. Their primary role involves managing communication between the entity they represent and the public, media outlets, stakeholders, and other relevant parties. PR Managers work to shape public perception, build relationships, and effectively convey messages that align with the organization's goals and values.
Key responsibilities of a public relations manager may include:
➡ Media relations.
➡ Crisis management.
➡ Content creation.
➡ Event planning.
➡ Stakeholder engagement.
➡ Social media management.
➡ Brand management.
➡ Publicity campaigns.
➡ Monitoring and Analysis.
➡ Collaboration with marketing, advertising, and other departments.
A successful PR Manager possesses strong communication skills, creativity, strategic thinking, crisis management abilities, and the capability to adapt to evolving trends and technologies. They play a crucial role in shaping public perception and maintaining a positive image for their organization or clients.
In my previous post, I studied possible reasons for the crisis in recruiting PR managers in Ukraine, besides the war issues. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or in direct messages.
