Irrespective of the results, irrespective of the manipulations and their try to lower motivations, your vote is your utmost responsibility. No matter whoever you vote, the very act of voting is an act of self defiance against all the undemocratic forces. The very act of voting is your testimony that you believe in democracy no matter what. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude—" This week was the anniversary of the ratification of the #15thAmendment to the US Constitution that granted African American men the right to vote, eventually leading to the removal of disenfranchisement barriers based on race. What power is there in a voice? How about a vote? Is a vote an inalienable right? As we barrel toward another presidential election with all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate on the ballot, we see fights against gerrymandering and new barriers to the ballot popping up. A great uncertainty is growing in Europe. The European election will decide if we all have to face an increasing war scenario from one side or a populist and right rhetoric. Can we have another choice? Can we have a European parliament where the main topics will be democracy, civil rights, work, health and a correct industrial development? The future is in our hands but we have to choose between two different stupid views of the world. I hope this historical period will pass fast.

Radical action is how we hold up the centre. The path of the political reactionary is to abandon this centre, to sabotage it and pick it bare, to attack it and its institutions expediently for short-term political advantage.

We often discuss the development of AI policy and regulations at the federal level, but remember state and local governments. Overlapping conversations are taking place in the state legislatures -- and the states are often the first movers in both comprehensive and ad hoc regulation. Earlier this month, Colorado's legislature enacted a comprehensive law providing a risk-based approach to regulating AI. Similar to the issues considered in the Federal Trade Commission's Final Rule Concerning Government and Business Impersonation that recently went into effect, our (NC) General Assembly is considering bills that would outlaw pernicious uses of AI to create deepfakes.
