Engaging with our patients, we adopt an approachable stance by getting down to eye level, demonstrating our commitment to truly listening and understanding their needs. We want them to know that their concerns are valid and important to us. While validating our patients' concerns, we take the extra step to ensure clear communication about what they can expect from our visits. This includes a transparent discussion of the specific assistance we can provide and what they can consistently rely on us for. Are regular check-ups really necessary? This is a question I hear people ask oftentimes. Regular check-ups are an important part of maintaining good health and preventing potential medical issues from becoming more serious. While the frequency of check-ups can vary depending on several factors, including age, overall health, and any existing medical conditions, it is generally advisable to have an annual check-up. Annual check-ups allow healthcare professionals to assess your overall health, perform preventive screenings, and detect early signs of any underlying diseases or conditions. These visits can involve a comprehensive physical examination, blood tests, discussions about lifestyle habits, and vaccinations if necessary. Keep in mind that certain groups, such as children, older adults, and individuals with chronic conditions, may require more frequent check-ups. It's also important to consult with your healthcare provider to determine the ideal frequency for your specific situation. Regular check-ups provide an opportunity to address any concerns, track progress, and receive guidance on maintaining or improving your health. They are essential for early detection, early intervention, and overall well-being. Don't take your health for granted. Try as much as possible to get your annual check-ups done. This year, we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the World Health Organisation's first global Guideline on self-care interventions for health and well-being. This pivotal guideline represents a significant shift in WHO guidance, bridging communities, primary care, and health systems. Self-Care Month provides a valuable opportunity to: ✅ Raise awareness about self-care and its interventions. ✅ Acknowledge the benefits self-care brings to people’s lives and what has been achieved thus far. ✅ Call for renewed commitments and actions to expand all health systems to include self-care interventions. Throughout the month, people across the globe will celebrate self-care practices and interventions and their profound impact on our lives. 📣 Today we are celebrating the World Patient Safety Day! 📣   🔍 This international day was established in 2019 by the 72nd World Health Assembly. Its objectives are to increase public awareness and engagement, enhance global understanding, and work towards global solidarity and action by Member States to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm.    💡Evidence shows that when patients are treated as partners in their care, significant gains are made in safety, patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
