Week 6 ends, another unsatisfying week, more demoralisation, more disheartening. I assumed based on experience, skill set and thanks to Ann Barker a revitalised CV I’d perhaps face slightly more success. However another week rolls by and this time round I haven’t even had a singular reply from a role I’ve applied to in the last couple weeks. However, I have no intention of giving up, I can’t afford to. I’m determined to find a new job, a new career and a new path to venture forth on. The stats for week 6s end are as following Jobs applied to: 782 Jobs heard back from: 107 Interviews: 2 If any of my connections themselves are hiring or know of anyone hiring, I’m very much open to any role.

DAY 147: The job search continues, 100's of applications sent out and 100's of wonderfully kind boilerplate automated rejections and others just never returned from the abyss. On a positive note, I found a new friend, Wilson! He doesn't say much but he's a great listener! The search continues!! If there are any humans left out there who know of any open leadership opportunities in Data Engineering, DataOps or Data Platform, please send me a message. (It does not have to be in a bottle, but even that method would be appreciated at this point!!)

As someone who's position was eliminated in a wave of corporate layoffs, I wanted to share my thoughts and where my head is at right now. 1. I am a big believer that everything happens for a reason. I know that a year from now, I will look back and be thankful that this happened, because it was a part of the path that brought me to my future success. 2. Currently, I am uncomfortable. But outside of my comfort zone is where I will learn, and where I will grow. The periods in my life marked with the highest discomfort are the periods in which I have grown and changed the most as a person. 3. Obviously, this happening is objectively upsetting and it is frustrating. However, being sad and frustrated does not give me my job back. I am focusing on the future and optimism about the next chapter of my life. 4. There are truly silver linings in every situation. A week ago, I was wishing for more time to dedicate to my passions and to further educating myself. Now, this wish was answered - not in the way I expected, more in the 'genie' kind of way where there's always a catch - but I am not going to take this extra time I have in between roles for granted. Layoffs are happening across so many industries and so many companies right now, and I know I am far from the only one experiencing this. We are all in this together. This being said, if any of you or your connections know of open roles or companies hiring for marketing, sales, or operations, please let me know - I'd love to connect!
