This annual pilgrimage has become our family's way of connecting with each other, our community, and the enduring lessons of 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆, 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. → From the electrifying atmosphere of the rodeo arena, we've learned the importance of getting back up no matter how hard we fall, mirroring the 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 of the rodeo athletes. → It has taught us 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 through the careful and respectful interaction between riders and their animals, highlighting the importance of trust and understanding in any relationship. → Our exposure to the 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 celebrated at the rodeo has deepened our appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our world. → Witnessing the 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of the participants, we've been inspired to apply the same level of commitment to our endeavors. → Lastly, the 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 among the competitors and spectators alike has underscored the value of building strong networks of support in our lives. I have always bristled at the term "guide." It sort of implies I know the way and that my clients should follow. This is usually where "guides" frequently get themselves in trouble. Spotters, on the other hand, have climbed the mountain before but now they're ready to let someone else do the climbing. 🧗♀️Spotters let the climber lead. 🧗♀️Spotters stay on the ground. 🧗♀️Spotters hold the safety line. 🧗♀️Spotters understand who's doing the work and who's ultimately responsible for the outcome. 🧗♀️Spotters let their climbers climb as far and as slow as they want. 🧗♀️If a climber gets stuck, a spotter will help them find their next hand- or foot-hold but they don't run up the mountain and push. 🧗♀️If a climber falls, they may fall far enough to feel some discomfort hitting the side of the mountain but a spotter doesn't let them fall far enough to hurt themselves. Someone once said to me, "A expert in psychedelics should be able to tell me what will happen during my next journey...and I've yet to meet an expert." Nor have I.
