Spent last week with our Loverboy Inc. NJ/PA Market Manager amy godonis doing a Market Blitz in NJ with Ritchie & Page Distributing Co. This market work was capped with a few Meet & Greets with Kyle Cooke at Wine Outlet and some key on-premise accounts. All of our work was enhanced by Alex Rumman's and Dylan Marino's social media and POS aimed specifically to reflect all our efforts. From a supplier's viewpoint, Market Work is pinnacle to gaining and keeping the front-of-mind space from our distributor management and sales personnel. We need to make our distributors an extension of us and show that we are a true partner to our distributors. - Brands with engaged wholesalers see up to a 20% increase in sales. - 80% of wholesalers are more likely to promote a brand that provides marketing materials and sales support. - Training and educating wholesaler reps can lead to a 25% increase in product knowledge and a 15% increase in sales performance. After an amazing 19.5 years, today is my last day at Kuoni. I started my career at Kuoni as a Sales Consultant in Manchester. I was ambitious but hadn't a clue what I wanted to do for a career. I decided university wasn’t for me and fell into the role after globe trotting for a few years after I left college. The warmth of the team and passion for our customers at Kuoni has never faltered. I always had bosses and leaders who were eager to listen, championed me and supported my desire to move up the ranks. I soon moved to London for a few months to support the new Kensington store opening then fulfilled my dream to work as a Business Development Executive for the Trade relations team. That was a career defining period for me. I loved driving my palm tree wrapped car to all corners of the north. The role taught me so much about relationship building, negotiation and engaging an audience and it built my confidence to move into a leadership role (aided by a dear colleague who gave me a nudge to apply for Manchester store manager). After briefly running the Manchester store alongside my Trade role, I became involved in the rapid expansion of the Kuoni store network. I went from project managing the store openings to Regional Manager and then quite quickly went on run the store network. As the role grew, I took on Trade and later launched a Virtual contact centre born out of the pandemic.  I loved every minute of the variety and learned so much. As well as my Trade days, building the retail team from scratch and watching them flourish was one of biggest career highlights. The Kuoni team’s passion and talent are what makes the business so special. Creating a thriving sales culture and empowering the team to deliver an outstanding customer experience were our obsession.  There are SO many achievements to share.. We developed a ‘People agenda’ designed to deliver a best in class experience for our team which championed recognition and personal growth. There’s our Little Book of Wow, an annual collection of treasured moments that we create for our customers.   We built our unique service philosophy ‘The Kuoni Way’, designed to empower the team to deliver exceptional service at every touch point making us famous for delivering the best customer experience in the industry. I am so proud of my career path from Sales Consultant to Sales Director over my 19 year career at Kuoni. This is testament to an incredible culture that nurtures and recognises homegrown talent. After a hugely fulfilling career, and having learned so much, I believe I have a lot to share in my new chapter as a Leadership Coach (more on that to come soon!).   But for now, an incredible chapter comes to a close. To all of the wonderful people who have been a part of my Kuoni journey, those who have mentored, supported and inspired me, those who I have laughed until I cried with (you know who you are), THANK YOU for absolutely everything.

This move helped our same store sales grow 7x First of all: you really do have to visit your stores. It could be a part timer or agency or you or your team. But you need to get boots in there representing your brand Stores have thousands of products to manage. They won’t prioritize you as a small company So my process was simple: I visited this store personally and saw that our product location had very poor visibility Made friends with staff and I moved it to a higher traffic end cap location in front of the entrance / exit, and added a simple but enticing sign My sales in the DAY after the move were greater than the entire WEEK leading up to that If you’ve heard of big brands like Frito Lay having their own DSD distribution and store teams, this is effectively what they’re doing Is it scalable for you or someone on your small team to visit hundreds or thousands of stores frequently? Hell no. But there are great teams that can do this like Dirty Hands or Basemakers or you can get scrappy and hire some part timers in your different regions to do this type of stuff for you. Just get creative and make it happen. WHY? Because if you could theoretically 5x your sales in your top 25% of stores, you would essentially double your total revenues Btw, other things I was able to do by visiting the store: -print out customized price signs for our products -get the store to promote us on their social media -sampled with staff and told our story #grocery #cpg Chris Robb Will Ahearn Levi Filkins

This month we chatted to the brilliant Kelly Summers, Area Manager. Hi Kelly 👋 Tell me about your career journey at FatFace, what other roles have you worked in I started my journey with FatFace in 2003 as Assistant Manager when a store opened in my local village of Mumbles in South Wales. I absolutely loved the brand and the clothing and felt I had the best job in the world working with great people whilst wearing and selling great kit. I moved on from Fatface to explore other opportunities and moved to Australia. When I returned, I was straight back applying to get back into the business that I had missed, and I was so happy when I secured a role in Cardiff a bigger turnover store as Assistant manager. I progressed within this store and soon became the Store Manager. With the support of a fantastic team, I was able to support other stores, support my Area Manager in their absence and become a facilitator of our Customer Journey training and Coaching workshops for new managers in the business. 6 years on I grabbed the opportunity to re locate to Bath for a top turnover store in the business. 5 years there I continued with supporting the business, I stepped into an Area Manager in training role to support a maternity cover for 9 months. 10 years back in the business and I still felt like I had the best job in the world. I get to spend my days with passionate people and wonderful customers, all whilst wearing pretty dresses and sandals When a new Area Manager role came up I took a leap into the next challenge of my career to be a leader for 22 amazing stores. Tell us about the your new role I am now the Area Manager for Central, covering a large patch from Yorkshire down to Buckinghamshire. I absolutely love it. My team are full of energy and enthusiasm and have been so supportive in my transition into the role. It means a lot to me to be able to lead a team to succeed and support the growth of a business that I'm so passionate about. What’s been one of your proudest moments at work over the last year? Being promoted. Putting myself out of my comfort zone and making a big change in my career and life. I knew that the job would be different and hard work, however, I trusted myself that I absolutely could deliver in this role, so I went for it. Why would you recommend working at FatFace to others?  I believe in the values that FatFace share. When I was 19, working for Bacardi Canada as a Sales Merchandiser. I was responsible for merchandising our portfolio and selling in opportunities across 80 stores; Bacardi, Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire, and the infamous Bacardi Breezer. (Horrible design btw!). Early on, I noticed that everyone in the field had the same approach: Surface-level chatter followed by a sales pitch. They all did it the same way. It was like Groundhog Day, and I remember thinking to myself, is this what sales is all about. We all look, walk, talk, the exact same way? You’ve got to be kidding me—this is lame. Instead of following the crowd, I focused on how I could truly add value. I grew up drawing and writing and started to map out these different retail locations. I started to think, how could I help store owners optimize their merchandising for their entire store, not just sell our products. I mean the title ‘Merchandiser’ was in my name. I helped them with merchandising, layout, and creating a more attractive shopping experience. This led to us building some real relationships. Other reps would come in and a lot of the time management would be spending their time talking to me about what else we could do. This led to some confused faces. Who is this guy? Isn’t he a Merchandiser? Why are they spending so much time with him? This led to securing prime display locations, winning sheld space, and building strong, loyal relationships. Relationships that I would still leverage 5+ years later, under a new team, selling and marketing different brands. I realized that by finding my own way to be unique and provide a high level of customer service, that the relationship psychology started to shift. It was no longer a Merchandiser - Store Owner. It was a peer to peer relationship. To stand out when selling it often starts out by observing what others are doing and asking yourself “What can I offer that nobody else is?”. By focusing on adding real value and thinking beyond the immediate sale, you create lasting relationships. And when you genuinely help your customers succeed, they will return the favor. #sales #selling #founders #smallbusiness #value
