🐾 Best part of being Personal Assistant: Taking Care of Pets! 🐾 Hey LinkedIn Family! One of the absolute best parts of my job as a personal assistant is getting to spend time with my clients' adorable pets. As a passionate animal lover and dedicated volunteer at a local animal shelter, this aspect of my work truly warms my heart. Whether it's taking dogs for fun walks, playing fetch, or just giving them belly rubs, or spending time with cats, providing them with cuddles, and ensuring they have their favorite toys and treats, I cherish every moment. It's not just a task; it's a joy! Being around pets brings out the best in me, and I believe that happy pets contribute to a happier home. My experience with animals has taught me so much about patience, empathy, and unconditional love. I treat every pet with the same care and affection as their owners do, ensuring they feel loved and secure while you're away. If you're looking for a personal assistant who genuinely loves animals and will provide excellent care for your furry friends, I'm here for you. You can trust me with your beloved dogs and cats, knowing they’ll receive the best treatment and lots of love. To all my fellow personal assistants, what do you enjoy most about working with pets? Why the Language We Use with Our Dogs Matters The way we communicate with our dogs is not just about the words we use but the sentiments they convey. The language we choose can frame our entire relationship with our animals. Lets look at some examples (and there are many more!). "COMMAND" VS. "CUE": Why Not "Command"? The word "command" suggests that ‘no’ is not an acceptable answer. If our learner (dog or human!) declines to perform a trained behavior, “debugging” the problem is our best first response. A great exercise for us humans is to think about sitting at a red light in our car when the light turns green, and yet we don’t go forward. What might some good reasons be for not responding to that cue? Saying "I command you" may evoke feelings of dominance and control in us, which can strain the bond with our dogs. On the other hand, the word "cue" suggests an opportunity to perform. It implies a partnership where we’re working WITH our dogs. If they don’t respond as expected, making adjustments to our training for their success will strengthen our bond. "DOG OWNERSHIP" VS. "DOG GUARDIANSHIP": Referring to ourselves as "dog owners" reinforces the idea of pets as property, which can subconsciously affect how we treat them. "Dog guardianship" emphasizes the responsibility, care, and bond we share with our pets. They aren’t just our possessions; they're sentient beings we're entrusted to care for. "BAD DOG" VS. "UNWANTED BEHAVIOR": Labeling the Dog: By calling a dog "bad," we assign a permanent, negative, character trait to the animal, which is unjust, and can have a negative effect our interactions with our dogs. Instead, focusing on the behavior we’d like to change allows us to address the underlying cause leading to the behavior, and guides us in teaching better alternatives without labeling or stigmatizing the dog. Remember, it's not the dog that's "bad" but rather the behavior that might not be serving us or the situation. The language we use with our dogs goes beyond mere semantics. It frames our relationship, impacts training, and sets the tone for our interactions. By choosing words that reflect respect, understanding, and partnership, we foster a bond built on trust and mutual respect, paving the way for a harmonious relationship. #VirginiaDogTrainer #DogTrainer #JoyfulDog #TimetoTrain #FearFreepets #Pets #Animals #Dog #Dogs #PetsofInstagram #DogOwner #PetLovers #PetLover #Pet #LoveYourPet #Family #DogSafety

I Hate Dogs …… Sorry infact i dont hate Dogs but i am afraid of Dogs . Today, I want to address a topic that's been on my mind for a while - the presence of pets, specifically dogs, in public spaces. I live in a society with a considerable number of street dogs, and I must admit, I've often felt fear when encountering them. It got to the point where I stopped my early morning walks, fearing a run-in with these dogs. Now, please don't get me wrong; I have no issue with people having pets in their homes. Pets can be wonderful companions. However, when pet owners insist on bringing their dogs to public spaces like parks, it can create problems. When I've asked them to keep their dogs under control, I often hear, "Don't worry, it won't bite." But here's the thing - many of us share this fear of dogs, and it's a genuine phobia. It's not about whether the dog will bite or not; it's about feeling safe and comfortable in public spaces. In a recent argument with a neighbor, I was accused of not being an animal lover because of my stance. Yet, just an hour later, the same neighbor was feeding chicken to their pet dog. It made me wonder about the definition of an animal lover. My message here is simple: I respect your love for your pets, but I urge pet owners to respect those of us who have a fear of them. Public spaces should be welcoming for everyone, and a little consideration goes a long way. Let's find a balance where both pet owners and those who fear pets can coexist peacefully. I believe it's possible if we all show understanding and respect. What is your view on street dogs and Pet Dogs roaming freely. #PetsInPublicSpaces #AnimalLovers #RespectForAll
