To achieve sustainable corporate operations, DuPont Taiwan sees the fundamental principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as essential. Despite facing challenges within the overall industry environment, we continue to provide internship opportunities for students. This allows them to gain a deeper understanding of workplace culture and corporate operations, while also fostering a strong connection between DuPont and young talents.
During the internship period, in addition to learning within respective departments, we also incorporate projects aligned with DuPont's core values. This enables interns from diverse backgrounds to leverage their expertise and cultivate teamwork, logical thinking, and creativity through STEM training approaches. Interns must overcome challenges stemming from different locations and background among team members, have continuous discussions and collaboration, and provide advice from the younger generation's perspective.
The current project consists of four themes: DWN, DE&I, CARE, and Sustainability. The DWN team members took on the role of strategic consultants, utilizing surveys and interviews to analyze colleagues' current perceptions of DWN and their desired types of activities. The CARE team initiated cross-site collaboration, organizing a joint charity sale event involving three locations. This approach aimed to amplify the impact of the activities, with the entire proceeds of the donation being donated to the Man Fair Sheltered Workshop, Reindeer Children Home, and Children Are Us Foundation. This effort reflects a commitment to DuPont colleagues and caring for marginalized communities within society. The Sustainability team integrated AI with ESG, employing deep learning techniques to train machines in detecting potential safety hazards within DuPont facilities. They proposed using cameras to monitor whether employees wear their safety equipment correctly, thereby addressing potential safety concerns. The DE&I team created personas for four generations – From Baby Boomer to Generation Z – to understand potential generational gaps in the workplace through interviews. The goal is to facilitate communication and bridge generational division that fosters interaction among different age groups. Seizing this opportunity, we gained insights into the perspectives of the younger generation on ERG issues, aiding DuPont in expanding its sustainability initiatives across various domains of the company.
Here, we want to extend our gratitude to the supportive leaders and colleagues whose efforts contributed to the successful conclusion of this program. Moving forward, DuPont will continue to drive initiatives related to DWN, DE&I, CARE and Sustainability, further embodying our corporate social responsibility.
Let's look forward to next year's internship program!

🚀 Exciting News! 🚀
Thrilled to announce the successful completion of my internship at Parker Hannifin
Guided by the engineering dynamic duo,Brendan Solinski and Sean Driscoll, Ryan Goldstein and I spent 10 weeks optimizing the Miller Swing Arm work cell for enhanced efficiency!🎯
🔍 Challenges Uncovered:
The layout and batching techniques were hindering smooth workflow, causing bottlenecks and inefficiencies. 🛑
🛠️ Solutions Implemented:
Redesigned Layout: Workers now have dedicated spaces within the cell, eliminating clashes and enhancing productivity. 💼
Redivision of Work: By redistributing tasks, we've transitioned to a single-piece flow model, ensuring synchronized completion of swing arms. ⏰
💡 Results Achieved:
Initial estimates suggest a significant 10% boost in efficiency! 📈 However, we're committed to validating this through new time studies once our team has fully adjusted to the revamped setup. 📊
🌟 Future Enhancements:
To further streamline operations, we're exploring the addition of an extra cart to hold unused swing arms, cutting down on unnecessary trips to the inventory warehouse and saving valuable time. ⏳
🌳 Enjoying My Time at Parker Hannifin:
I must say, being part of the Parker Hannifin team has been an absolute pleasure. The collaborative environment, innovative spirit, and unwavering commitment to excellence truly make every day a rewarding experience. Here's to many more exciting projects and milestones! 🎉
📸Below in the picture is me with my final poster at UB’s Industrial and Systems Engineering Capstone poster session.
Excited about the positive impact this project will have on the operation and looking forward to even greater achievements ahead! 💪 #EfficiencyOptimization#EngineeringExcellence#ContinuousImprovement
We are delighted to welcome our summer interns to etasca. Throughout the Summer they will help build our models, further our thought leadership and work on client facing projects in various areas of energy and chemicals. We asked them for their insight into what challenges lie ahead for the industry. Lance Simandjoentak is a third year UCL chemical engineering graduate joining our team today!
"A crucial concept that I find compelling is the conundrum of the energy trilemma. This revolves around three unique pillars: energy security, energy sustainability and energy affordability. It's clear that the three pillars cannot be thought of in isolation to one another, presenting a complex challenge.
As an example, importing energy sources can supplement domestic inventory and enhance energy security but what happens when the energy security relies on external sources? This can lead to an over-dependence increasing vulnerability and exposure to geopolitical factors contributing to energy insecurity. Imported energy sources can also be subjected to import taxes and price fluctuations.
For reference, in 2023, Europe experienced its biggest deficit in oil, where production only met 23% of its demand, gas production only 44% and coal production meeting only 58%. All at a time where Europe is trying to lead the way in the energy transition.
The energy trilemma is just one of multiple prospects that challenge industry highlighting the importance of making energy supply affordable. A test case for this is the evolving CBAM regulation which increases energy sustainability factors but could have an impact on energy affordability.
etasca is at the forefront of analysing both market elements and technology factors in the energy and chemical industries as they face up to this challenge.
I'm looking forward to joining the team and learning more!"
Excited to share an article from my alma mater's newspaper about some of the internship experiences we've been able to provide at Ren.
The first major step in my career, landing a job at Nike, was due largely to a connection I made during undergrad at the University of Puget Sound. And every step since has likewise been attributable, in some way, to someone being kind enough to make time for me - to answer my questions, to give me feedback, or to otherwise point me in the right direction. So whenever I get the chance, I like to pay it forward.
Offering internships at Ren is one way I like to do that. There's obviously work to be done, work that helps Ren improve our offering, and helps interns gain new skills and experiences. But whenever I get the chance I also like to engage with students on their career goals, talk to them about their curiosities, or even review their resumes or help them prepare for interviews. I often end up learning just as much as they do, and their excitement and passion for sustainability helps provide me with fresh motivation and energy.
Very glad to come from a school that values the same types of relationships and initiatives that I do. A big thanks to Professor Lynnette Claire for helping make the connection to the current students.

Please join with us in recognizing our September 2023 Engineer Intern Spotlight feature Kathleen (McMackin) Inman, EI. Kathleen had the best and somewhat profound response to why professional licensure is import ant to her. To quote:
"It lets others who are not familiar with your work recognize that you are qualified to be doing what you are doing." Well said, Kathleen!
