If you're considering resigning from your current job to take up new employment elsewhere, there are some key factors to keep in mind. In today's workplace, it's difficult to guarantee finding a perfect environment, as work cultures can be challenging and aggressive almost everywhere. However, there are circumstances where resigning without another job lined up may be warranted, such as family issues, health concerns, or relocation. In these cases, prioritizing your well-being and attending to pressing matters is crucial. Additionally, if your values, ethics, or principles are in conflict with those of your organization, it can be demotivating and undermine your sense of purpose. In such situations, resigning might be a valid consideration.

Good thoughts on a subject not often written about. Have done this a few times (for both reasons stated in the article, no regrets except for moving on sooner)

I quit my job to do an MBA. Was awarded a scholarship, worked damn hard, won some awards, ended up getting an amazing opportunity in a different direction. I had a ton of support to do it, but it’s enriched my life in a million different ways.

Here's something anyone who is considering this should bear in mind: At the executive level hiring can be an incredibly long process. The rule of thumb historically has been one month of job search for every $20k in salary. Prepare yourself financially for that reality so you don't go into your next role for the wrong reasons.

Remember, YOU are responsible for your career! Be sure you are cognizant of your personal “brand” and reputation. Bale when you know something illegal or unethical is happening that may reflect badly on you. Or if its impacting your physical or mental health

Haha, love this post! Quitting a job without a backup plan can definitely be nerve-wracking, but sometimes a little leap of faith can lead to amazing opportunities. Thanks for the laugh and the reminder to always have a plan (or at least a sense of humor) in those tricky career moments! 😄👍

I quit two jobs after short period of time as despite all the hype, both were failing miserably on employment law and ensuring h&s of staff and clients.

Knowing my own interests and limitations helped me make the decision to resign. And the last point is right once you resign it is the first day forward. It can be mutually enriching and supportive.
