Another first for me! Yesterday I had the honour of MC'ing the Graduation Ceremony of BSE in Windhoek. Having done many events before as MC, this was a first for me in that this event required me as the MC to follow strict Academic Graduation protocol and I could not go off script. Usually as MC one of our roles is to keep the audience entertained but in this case I did not have that freedom. We are very proud of all the BSE graduates. This morning, I attended the Business New Breakfast with UWA Alumni, featuring Mark Barnaba as a speaker in the Success and Leadership program. It was thought-provoking, prompting me to consider: 1. I preferred the on-campus experience for myself, however, in my quest to encourage more veterinarians in the industry to pursue an MBA degree, Rice University should be at the top of your list. Rice is different than most other MBA programs in that they focus heavily on entrepreneurship, innovation and DEI; all 3 of which I feel are essential skills to lead with in this era of rapid change and desperate need for collaboration. Most other programs are developed or remain focused on old strategic management theory, which still carries some value into how we behave today, however, the most diverse, agile teams will find the greatest successes in the future. #DVMBA #RiceEMBA #ricebusiness #vetmed #womenininnovation

During the 2017-2018 academic year, the Network launched its first Middle Leadership Academy to support nine #CSU campus teams in implementing Executive Order (EO) 1110, which required the elimination of remedial English and mathematics courses. Our recent report highlights how campus teams utilized the Academy to plan and execute their responses to EO 1110 in math, explores the Academy's capacity for fostering equitable change within the CSU, and suggests that year-long leadership academies involving faculty, staff, and administrators can enhance the implementation of new policies mandated by the CSU Chancellor’s Office or campus leadership.
