It's time for the next #FACSfamFriday! Meet Grant Paulson, our Contract Administrator based in the Hayward office. Below, you will find all of Grant's answers to our questions as well as a graphic with a few snapshots of Grant enjoying his hobbies and passions outside of work. What’s your favorite thing about working at FACS?  One of the things I love most about working at FACS is the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that have a positive impact on the environment. It's incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that's dedicated to making a difference in the world. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? Outside of work, I'm all about hockey, golf, hiking, and most importantly, spending quality time with my family. What is one thing that you geek out about?  I'm a bit of a history buff and love diving into the stories and events that have shaped our world. Whether it's ancient civilizations, wars, or cultural movements, I find it fascinating to explore the complexities of the past and how they've influenced our present. What is your favorite store to shop at in-person or virtually? When it comes to shopping, I'm a huge fan of browsing through local farmer's markets. Do you have any pets? Yes, I'm proud to say I have a rescue dog named Tusk, who brings endless joy to my life. He's a delightful mix of Shiba Inu and Husky, and our favorite activity is going to the brewery together and hunting lizards! What is your favorite book to read?  Two of my top picks are "The Worlds That Made Us" by Akhil Reed Amar, delving into the historical roots of American constitutional law, and any work by Dr. Seuss, whose imaginative stories always bring joy and inspiration. What is your favorite random fact?  The term "Windy City" was not originally coined because of Chicago's weather, but rather because of its politicians. 

Pictured below is Lisa Nash addressing Tuesday's luncheon meeting of the Dalton Rotary Club. Lisa is the head of Human Resources at Qcells which operates the Western Hemisphere's largest solar panel manufacturing facility in Whitfield County's Carbondale Business Park. Hired in 2018 and expected to work in a 250 employee operation, Lisa now handles HR for 4,500 employees working in the Whitfield County plant and a new facility in nearby Cartersville. Although Dalton/Whitfield County is known as the "Carpet Capital of the World", it's risky business placing all your economic eggs in one basket. That proved true when the collapse of the housing industry during the Great Recession led to the collapse of flooring manufacturing in this region. In response to that dire situation, Whitfield County's public and private leaders embarked on a concerted effort to diversify our economy insuring greater resilience during economic downturns. In that way we strive to be less like Detroit still overly reliant on auto manufacturing and more like Pittsburgh which has a diverse economy not dependent on steel. Qcells doesn't just provide high paying manufacturing jobs to area residents but bolsters Whitfield County government's tax base. The product it manufactures strengthens America's energy independence, provides low cost green energy vital to saving the planet, and in doing so insures humanity's survival.
