We've officially been in our new Kansas Distribution Center in Lawrence for a month! During June, we already distributed 994,208 pounds of food and benefitted from 346 volunteer hours. Thanks to everyone who made this possible!

Those moments when you don't really know how it will go! Thanks to City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters for including me in this year's Raising the bar event. Being able to speak about our humaning, perfectionism, expectations and have a creative exploration at The Colonist Tavern was a great way to spend a Tuesday night. Thanks to the Staff and Volunteers who generously gave their time and supported me with pipecleaners and balls everywhere!

We were able to volunteer this week at the Northern Illinois Food Bank with our team from Colorado Technical University and Perdoceo Education Corporation. Excellent facility and staff helping those in need across 13 counties in Northern Illinois. We packed 6,912 lbs of protien to provide 5,760 meals.

This is one of the ways I fill my 'community bucket' - by volunteering at the Ottawa Community Foundation, on the board, the Grants Committee and the Impact Investing Committee. If you are not familiar - OCF is your community impact broker, helping to bring together so many parts of Ottawa, to pool together our funds and use that to re-invest in our community. We connect people looking for ways to invest their funds for the good of the community (donors), with local nonprofits/charities (service providers) serving those who can really use that investment (community members or causes). And the causes we support are driven by what's needed and what's important to the people who make up our city - so range from social services to health to education to arts and culture to heritage to environment to animal rights. I love volunteering here because it helps me feel connected to the heartbeat of Ottawa across all of our diversity - from grassroots local community groups to donors and funders to business leaders to policy makers. As individuals we are each plugged into to different parts of our city, geographically or sectorally or demographically. But here, we are all united through our common interest in making our city a better place for everyone. So here's a little window into the amazing work that's happening in our city everyday, thanks to all these different folks coming together, each doing our part, to lift each other up. Volunteerism transforms lives! Thanks to Volunteer Now CEO, Rachel Currie Triska, for inspiring her incredible team. Americans gave 4.1 billion hours of service to humanity as volunteers last year. There's nothing more impactful than making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
