Life is not a lecture. It’s not a problem to be solved. It’s an experience to live. I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently. Because all I’m trying to do with my podcast is give you an experience by telling you stories. Storytelling is central to the human experience. It’s how we process our lives. We think in the context of stories. That’s how the human brain is wired. And the best stories don’t give you all the answers. They urge you to ask different questions. My episode from last week is called “Your Story Matters” (link to the show is below). And it’s a reminder to myself that all the things I encourage you… also apply to me. Because there was a time when I had completely given up on PKU, newborn screening, and rare disease advocacy. I thought that I had shared my story, and that my work was done. I did return to advocacy in 2022, but ever since then it’s been a constant battle to remember—MY story matters. So much of what I say on the show and share here on social media isn’t just for you… I’m writing this for me as well. When things seem dark and you wonder if anything you’re doing makes a difference… Hold on to hope. And know that your story matters. Whether it's guiding patients through infertility challenges, giving hope where it's scarce, or simply being there when it matters most, your drive is what makes all the difference. At H&H we’ve spent the past few months determining our areas of passion–what kinds of organizations make us marketing happy? One key area of passion for us is pediatric hospitals. In this week’s podcast episode, we discuss building a strong content marketing strategy for pediatric hospitals. When it comes to developing pediatric content, it’s important to remember that the content is often more for the parents of patients, rather than patients themselves. We present five pillars for pediatric content marketing that connects parents to the right resources, information, and support for their children. Be sure to give it a listen! Let's keep the conversation going about #paramedic #placement #poverty. Work-integrated learning (placement/WIL) is an 'inherent requirement' for health/medical profession learning. However, the costs are real - travel and accommodation expenses - while taking time out of their paid employment - leaving students out-of-pocket.
In the latest episode of Advocacy in Conversation, we discuss the critical issue of ‘placement poverty’ faced by paramedic students. Our special guests for this episode include Professor Scott Devenish of Australian Catholic University, PhD candidate Matt Wilkinson-Stokes and Cameron Powers of National Rural Health Student Network.
