How can airports get the most benefit from the construction manager at-risk delivery method? Timothy Fish, P.E., our east region Aviation manager, offered some practical insights gleaned from years of working on CMAR projects. He also explains why airports comfortable with CMAR may want to explore other models such as progressive design-build or integrated project delivery. The 1990's Denver Airport Baggage fiasco is one of the most notorious project failures in history. 2000 bags were not loaded onto their respective flights. Imagine being one of those people! The main reason behind this epic project management disaster - a lack of organization. It caused confusion, chaos, and a delay in development and testing. Challenges were not dealt with on time and the end result cost the airport millions of dollars. How do you keep things organized as a PM? Share in the comments below and repost to get this discussion going! #OPMC #ProjectManagement #Oman #ProjectFails #Organization #Management #EpicFails

We captured over 83,000 rail possession shifts in 2021 and scored every single one for productivity and access. 🤓 In rail, aviation, highways and every sector that touches on existing assets, access is critical and maximising productivity during that time is essential. ⏳ We don’t have enough resources to build the things we want to build in the way we’ve always built them. Understanding and boosting productivity is the only way to accelerate sustainable construction. 🏗️🏞️🌆 Here’s a simple and effective way of doing that. 👇

Roughly $450 Million…. That’s how much roughly the state of NC has allocated to #Aviation Projects. $350 Million to General Aviation Airport and $100 to Commercial #Airports. This is not including the federal funds that are also made available and more likely used as well when a project is executed. So it begs the question: What is the State by State breakdown of funds allocated to Aviation Projects? I believe I saw South Carolina allocation $40 Million to Commercial airports I’ve had chats with other where the state was only allocating $7-$15 Million These project generate so much economic development and bring in many organizations that are interested in logistics, highway/freeway access room for expansion etc… I know I have several Aviation Planners and Aviation #ProjectManagers/ Principals in my network. Is there a way to find the breakdown by each state and see how they stack up to each other? Is your organization ready and setup to capture these possible funds in concrete, building, landscape, manufacturing, etc… Let’s see where this conversation goes. North Carolina Airports Association NCDOT - Becca Jackson Gallas, PE WSP - Karla Medina Gaël Le Bris, C.M., P.E. Bolton and Company, Inc. - Ron Roetzel Side note- Great turnout at the Raleigh Vet Connect- event last night (Brent Cochrane, Pete Marston, MBA, PMP , Michael Merzke ) Made lots of new connections and leads on more positions where I can greatly impact a amazing organizations.

If it is not done in an “integrated-team” approach, it would not be any different than GC+subcontractors cost plus delivery. CM-at-Risk requires a CM which would fully partner with the Owner. I have seen both ways and what makes the positive difference is the “integrated team” approach.
